Present at roll call: Councilmen: mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier, City Attorney and City Clerk. The Notice of Special meeting was read as follows: NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCTL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA I hereb- call a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa in Los Angeles County, to meet in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall Auditorium on Monday, the 14th day of March,1932, at 7:50 o'clock P. M. of said day. The rurpose of this meeting is to consider and hear objections to and to take final action on the Report of the City Planning Commission recommending that the zoning Ordinance of the City of Azusa, known as Ordinance No. 294, be amended to include certain territory now located in Zone R-4 to be excepted from said Zone R-4 and placed in Zone M-3 Heavy Industrial District, and for the further purpose of receiving and acting on any Ordinance to carry out the purpose hereinbefore set forth and for such other and further business as may legally come before the meeting. The Mayor announced that this is the time and place set for hearing protests and taking final actions upon the Report of the City Planning Commission recommending that the zoning Ordinance of the City of Azusa known as Ordinance No. 294 be amended to show that the property hereinafter described be classified and designated as property constituting a Hearing of Protests. The West 7 acres of the South one-half of Lot 47: the West 5 Acres„of the North one- half of Lo't 47; the East,8 acres of the West 15 acres of the South one'-half�of Lot 47; all of the above -being in Subdivision No. 2, Azusa Land and .Water Company, City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, as per Map recorded in Book 43,•PaAe 94 of Miscellaneous records; also The South 22:59 acres more or less of Lot 29, Subdivision No. 2, Azusa Land & 'eater Company, in;the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, State of California. Mrs-. Ida M. Shaw whose property represents one acre stated: "I protest to any thing s1miliar to a rock crusher and caarplane; factory. She further stated that her land was rocky and sandy and she could not raise anything thereon and that she had tried to sell it and could not, and if now a rock cursher or airplane factory appeared it would further hinder a sale. Mrs. Ida Whitmere whose property represents ten acres stated: "I would not want a rock crusher in.°there.” Mrs:'Lee Stratton whose property represents five acres stated: "I would not want a rock crusher in there." ' The'Mayor then audibly and publicly asked whether there were further protests 6n the part of any person present. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Williams that the time for hearing objections be declared closed and that the Council proceed to consider such objections as were made. Motion carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson; Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Council then proceeded to consider the oral objections as above set forth and con- sidered the fact particularly that there were only 16 acres protesting as against many'hundreds of acres in that locality which had not filed any protest after legal notice had been published and further dis- cussed the question that the City of Azusa had.for ,years been endeavoring to get industries in that part of the City, and that in the judpmentt of the Council such - industry would be of great benefit to the ' City as a whole. It was then moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Williams, that ob- jections to the amendment of Ordinance No. 294`as recommended by the City Planning Commission be over -ruled and that the recommendation of the Planning Commision be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes:- None. Absent: None. Councilman Mace offered an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7 OF ORDINANCE Hearing on,Protests Glbsed. Protests -considered. Protests overruled. 4SJAU 0 NMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING HELD March.14,.1932 7:30 P.M. 75 NO. 294 OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISH14ENT IN THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, OF FOUR ZONES CONSISTING OF VARIOUS DISTRICTS AND PRESCRIBING THE CLASSES OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND IMPROVEMENTS IN THE SAID;SEVERAL ZONES, AND THE USES THEREOF, AND PRESCRIBING THE PENALTY'FOR VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF" ADOPTED AUGUST 39 19319 AND BY ADDING THERETO A NEI SECTION TO BE ENTITLED SECTION 7-A. to be placed upon its first reading. This ordinance was then read for the first time-. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman 'Jilliams and duly carried that the Council adjourn. ORDINANCE read for first .time. 11/.
