The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. ,,Present at roll call: Councilmen: Mace, ss', Johnson, Meier. City Attorney & City Clerk. Absent: Councilmen: Williams -and Muehe. The minutes of the last regular meeting of April 4, 1932 were read and approved as read. ' Councilman Johnson offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY RESOLUTION NO. 1290 OF AZUSA DECLARING VACANT FOR PUBLIC STREET ADOPTED. PURPOSES A CERTAIN PORTION OF AN UNNAMED STREET -WITHIN SAID CITY. Moved -,by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson that this resolution be adopted as -read and numbered Resolution No. 1290. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes:. Councilmen: Mace, Johnson; Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen: Williams and Muehe. Councilman 'Nillisms entered the meeting and took his seat. The monthly report of the Los Angeles' County Report of Los Angeles Health Department was presented. Moved by County -health Dept. Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman filed. Williams that same be placed on file. Charles Morgan requested the use of the Auditorium for a public political meeting. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Jqhnson that this re'ouest be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council:, Ayes:' Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Meier. Noes: none.' Absent: Councilman Muehe. Two applications for positions at the Slausen Memorial Plunge were presented: one by Mac Donald Bonner and one by Gladys Dorning. Moved and carried that same be referred to the Plunge Committee. Charles Morgan grant- ed use of Auditorium Application referred to Plunge committee. Moved -by Councilman Williams. seconded by Councilman Mace that the Chief of Police be au-thorized to purchase four Speed Limit Signs. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Muehe. " Moved'by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Mace that the action of the Board of Public Works, in the purchase of pipe fdr Azusa Avenue, in the amount of 52481.80• 'be authorized and confirmed. Moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Johnson that this action be ratified and confirmed. Chairman Mace stated that in the matter of :cater supply for -the Owl Fumigating Corporation,the Board of Public Tlorks wished an extension of time in which to check the matter. Moved and carried that same be granted; The Board to report back`at next regular meeting. Moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Mace that the City Clerk be instructed to cancel policy No. 4393, written by Thomas A. Smith, on the Fire Hall, and notify J. 0. Durrell to renew this policy. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Vlilliams, Meier.,. Nbee: None. Absent: Councilman Muehe. Superintendent of Light and Water authorized to build addition to were house. Councilman Mace re- ported on water supply City Clerk instructed to cancel policy and instruct J. 0. Thrasher Labor 48.00 The City Clerk reported that the returns of the General Municipal Election held on Monday, the 11th day of April, 1932 in Canvass of election the City of Azusa, California were then and had been in her possession in the envelopes containing them, in the same conditioners when received, and the said Clerk presented said returns to the City Council at this ' meeting. �• The Clerk also reported that she had receiv- ed four absentee ballots. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the City Council proceed to tally the four ballots Board Returns. and to canvass said returns. This motion was carried by the following vote of the -- Council: - Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Meier. Noes: NrrAne. � Absent: Councilman Muehe. RESOLUTION NO. 1291 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANSA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS OF THE VOTERS OF THE 94 r J a� THE GENERAL 144UNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE SAID CITY ON APRIL 11, 19321, The City Council of the City of Azusa do resolve as follows: WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, County of Los Anpeles, State of California, on Monday, -the 11th day of April, 1932 as required by law; and WHEREAS, -it appears that notice of said election was duly and ' legally given and that there was one voting precinct established for holding said election, consisting of consolidation of regular City Precincts for holding State and County elections, as the same were established by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County on the 29th day of December, 1925, and now being on record in Book 87-A of the minutes of the said Board of Supervisors: that election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the returns thereof made and declared,'in time, form and manner as required by the General Laws of the State of California governing elections in cities of the fifth and sixth classes;f; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa met at -the Council Chamber of said Council on Monday the 18th day of -April, 1932, to canvass the returns of said election and install the -newly elected officers, whereupon the said Council found that the number of votes cast, the -names of the persons voted for,'the result of said election and other matter required by law, to be -as hereinafter stated; NOW THEREFORE=- -- 0 IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND DECLARED AS FOLLOWS: ' That said regular -Municipal Election was held and'conducted in the City of Azusa, California, on Monday the llth'day`of April-, 1932, in time, form and manner as -required by Is** -- That there was one voting precinct established for the nurpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular election precincts established for holding general State and County elections as follows-. Meier was elected .to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa. California, for the full term of four (4) ,years. Also that Archie C. Morden vias elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California for the full term of four (4) ,years. Also that Mae A. Hynes Ellington was elected to the office of City Clerk of the City of Azusa, California, for the full term of four (4) years. Also that William J. Holden was elected to the office of City Treasurer of the City of Azusa, California, for the full term of four (4) years. AND BE TT FURTHER RESOLVED, that .the City Clerk'shall immediately make and deliver_ to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election algnPd\by,her and duly authenticated; that she shall also impose•the,Constitutional oath of office upon said person so elected'as Member of the'City Council of said City, City Clerk, and City Treasurer and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in her office; thereupon, each and all of said persons so elected to said respective offices shall be inducted into said respective office to which they have been elected. Hynes Ellington, City Clerk, immediately took, subscribed and filed the constitutional oath of office as required by law. The Council thus constituted, took their seats and proceeded to organize.
