HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - January 3, 1933 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, Jaunary 3, 1933 7:30 P. M. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular•session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Council"men: Mare, Morden, Williams, Meier, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Johnson. The minutes of the last reaular meeting of December 1Q., 1932, -were read and approved as read, CBuncilinan Johnson entered the meeting and took his seat. A request to sell light wines and beer, if and 'when such sale becomes legal., was presentedby Joe Landrum accompanied by a five dollar filing fee. Moved°by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Morden that this communication together with fee be .fAl ed. 'Carried by the f01lbwtngoVote.of:,the Council:_ Ayes: Councilmen: Mace.' Johnson, Morden, Williams, Meier. Noes:- None. Absent: None. A communication from Mr. Brubaker was read. --Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson and duly carried that the City Clerk be instructed to acknowledge same, and file. An agreement between the City of Azusa and --Los Angeles -County regarding board for prisoners while.in County Jail, was read, --Moved and carried that same be referred to the City Attorney. A resolution, drawn by Los Angeles County, relative to workman's Compensation for persons receiving welfare aid who are being employed by the City, was presented. A communication from Mr. Baughn, Secretary of the Los Angeles County League of - ~ - Munteipalities relative to Special Assessment districts,'was read and ordered placed on file. Mr. J. R. Main, ad,?ressed the Council, making a request to use the Auditorium, for the purpose of giving an adaress on Tecknology'. It was moved and carried that this request be denied. Plans for improving the park, back of the Library, were discussed. It was agreed that this matter be taken up with the City Planning Commission and the ' Chamber of Commerce. The Steeple Jack requested the job of painting the flag pole. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Council- man Jnhnson, and duly carried that same be referred to the Board of Public Works. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace that the application' of Mrs.' Baker, to open a ppol hall in Azusa, be denied. Carried by the follow- ing vote of the Council: Ayes: Council- men: Mace, Johnson, Morden, Williams, Meier. Noes: None.
