The City Council of the City of Azusa met
in regular session at the above time. -and
- place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Mace,
Johnson, Meier, City Attorney and City
Clerk. Absent Councilman Morden.
The minutes of the last regular meeting of
May 15, 1933,were read and approved as
read.
' A petition signed by seven property owners
in blocks 12 and 13 of the City of Azusa,
requesting the City Council to rescind
Section 1 of Ordinance No. 201, was read.
Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by
Councilman Johnson and duly carried that
this peition be referred to the City
Planning Commission.

Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by
Councilman Mace that the Rainbow Angling
Club and the Azusa'Beverage Company be
granted a license to sell alcoholic beverages;
that Manuel Torres be denied a license,
' as he is not an American citizen and
Louis Kollerfs application be referred to
Councilman Mace, with power to act.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilman Mace, Johnson, Meier.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
A communication, signed by Cornelius Smith,
Secretary of the Azusa City Planning Com-
mission, recommending the condemming and
tearing down of the W. D. Streshly building
on the South west corner of Azusa Avenue
and Ninth Street, as it is unsightly and
a fire hazard, was read.
Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded -by
Councilman Johnson that this matter be
referred to the City Attorney. Carried
by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilman Mace, Johnson, Meier,
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
A communication regarding the insurance
policy on the Seagrave Fire truck and the
Lexington.truck, was read. Moved by
Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman
' Johnson that the City Clerk be instructed -
to renew the policy on the Seagrave truck
with Vosburg Brothers, Inc., valuing the
truck at $6000.00 and to discontinue the
insurance on the Lexington truck. Carried
_ by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, it[eier.
Noes: None. -Absent: Councilman Morden.
A communication requesting the use of the
Auditorium, signed by W. I. Hamblin was
read. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded
by Councilman Johnson that same be granted.
Carried by the following -vote of the
Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson,
Meier., Noes: None. Absent: Councilman
Morden.

A communication signed by Dr. J. L. Pomeroy,
requesting payment for Health Services
was read. Moved by Councilman Mace, sec-
onded by Councilman Johnson that this matter
be referred to the City Attorney.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:;
Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Meier.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.

A note expressing the appreciation of Mrs. Note filed.
Williams and her family for the City Council's
expression of sympathy was read and ordered
placed on file.
Three applications, by MacDonald Bonner,
Ira Calvert and Alton Hynes for the position
of Life -guard at the Slauson Memorial Plunge,
were read.
Moved by'Councilman Mace, seconded by
Councilman Johnson that same be referred
to the City Council as a Committee of the
Whole, with power to act. Carried by the
following vote of the Council: Ayes:
Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Meier. Noes;
None. Absent: Councilman Morden.

Mr. Albert Miller offered his resignation
as a member of the Azusa Planning Commission.
Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Albert Miller's re -
Councilman Johnson and duly carried that signation accepted.

Councilman Mace offered the following
resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 1345
RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE.
WHEREAS C. E. Williams, our fellow townsman,
friend and co-worker; has passed from our midst into
that realm from which no traveler returns; and
WHEREAS oui, departed friend and fellow
worker has spent many years of his unselfish and active
life in Azusa and vicinity during which period he has given
much of his time, effort and ability to promoting the
public welfare and the up -building of our community; and
WHEREAS the deceased for some time prior
to his passing was a member of the City Council of the
City of Azusa where he labored consistently and faithfully
for the public good and gave much of his time, energy and
exceptional ability towards solving the City's problems and
making our community a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS in the passing of C. E. Williams the
community has lost a real friend, worker and neighbor:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the members
' of the City Council of the City of -Azusa, California, at
a regular session assembled this 5th day of June, A.D.,
1933, that we hereby express our personal loss and sympathy
as well as the heartfelt sympathy of this community to the
members of the bereaved family in the loss of a faithful
husband, a good father, staunch friend and useful citizen.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution
be spread upon our Minutes and a copy thereof be sent to
the family of the deceased.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and legally adopted by the City Council
of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting held June 5, 1933,
by the following vote of the Council:-

gave an interesting report on a
Sewage Disposal system.
Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded
by Councilman Calvert that same be
referred to the City Council as a
Committee of the Whole.

IN SAID CITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
SYSTEM OF NUMBERING DEFINED UPON SAID
OFFICIAL MAP. -
to be placed upon its first reading.
This ordinance was then read for the
first time.

by Councilman'Calvert that the Mayor
and City Clerk be instructed to sign
a six months lease for new Cheverolet
Truck. Carried by the following vote

Councilman Johnson offered a resolution
