,CITY'RA LL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, AUGUST ..7, .1933 7:30 P. M. 321 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and .place. Present at roll call: Councilman Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier, City_Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes.of the last regular meet- ing of July 17, 1933, were read and approved as read. Councilman Mace offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY :COUNCIL OF THE CITY fOF AZUSA AUTHORIZING AND DIRECT- ING THE MAYOR OF SAID CITY TU MAKE APPLICATION TO THE STATE BOARD OF HEALTH OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR A PERMIT TO CONSTRUCT A SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT FOR SAID CITY OF AZUSA WITHIN SAID CITY. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded;.., by Councilman Calvert that this resolu- tion be adopted as read and numbered hesolution No. 1354. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson; Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Calvert that action 1.;, taken relative to Resolution No. 1352. adopted July 17, 1933, be confirmed. A communication signed -by Victor Venberg regarding payments on Neon Victor Venberg's Sign was read and ordered placed communication filed. on file. i Two communications relative to fleet insurance and none -ownership automobile - Liability, signed by H. H. Owens, were read. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Calvert that the City Clerk be instructed to renew both policies. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication signed by Dr. J. L. Pomeroy, regarding rat -proofing certain buildings, was read. Moved by Council- man Johnson, seconded by Councilman Morden and duly carried that same be referred to Councilman Mace with power to Act. ' A petition, containing twenty-one names, requesting the improvement of certain Streets, was presented. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace and duly carried that same be placed on file. Paul E. Kressly, City Engineer, pre- sented a proposal in connection with the furnishing of engineering services In the matter of the construction of a sewage collection system and sewage treatment works for the City of Azusa. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson, that same be accepted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Morden not voting. The City Clerk announced that she had received three applications for the ' distribution of Alcoholic Beverages. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Calvert that the applications be read. 0 -My Bottling Co. ------Class D Roy C. Smith ------------Class D Acme Distributing Co. ---Class F. Rat proofing certain buildings referred to Council- man Mace. Petition for im- provement of certain streets filed. P. E. Kressly's pro- posal accepted. Three applications to sell alcoholic beverages. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace that the Acme Distributing Company be granted a Acme Distributing Co. license. Carried by the following granted license. vote of the Council: Ayes: Council man Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. No action on 0 -My Bottling Co. & R. C. Smith's application. Matter of purchase of encandeseent lamps referred to Councilman Calvert. American Legion granted extension of lease. Noes: None. Absent: NMne. No action was taken on the 0 -My Bottling Company and Roy C. Smith's application. The matter/purehasing incandescent lamps for the City of Azusa was offered by Morgan Hardware Company. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Council- man Mace that same be referred to ' Councilman Calvert with power to act. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace that the lease between City of Azusa and the Canyon City Post No. 180, American Legion, be extended from February 2, 1931 to December 31, 1934, Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. No action on 0 -My Bottling Co. & R. C. Smith's application. Matter of purchase of encandeseent lamps referred to Councilman Calvert. American Legion granted extension of lease. 9XTJ,J i MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING HELD August 7, 1933 7:30 P.1825 Moved by Councilman Calvert, seconded Executative session. by Councilman Mace and daly carried that the Council adjourn and go into executative session for thirty minutes. Immediately thereafter the meeting was resumed. Councilman Morden offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING TRE OFFICE OF MOTOR CYCLE OFFICER VACANT, RE -APPOINTING C. C. KIMBRELL TO THAT OFFICE AND FIXING HIS SALARY OR COMPENSATION. Moved by Councilman Calvert, seconded by Councilman Johnson that this resolu- tion be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1355. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Calvert offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING THE OFFICE OF SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER VACANT AND CREATING THE OFFICE OF MOTOR CYCLE OFFICER AND FIXING THE SALARY OR COM- PENSATION. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolu- tion No. 1356, Carried by the follow- ing vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson; Morden, Meier. Noes: Nqne. Absent: None. Councilman -Morden Offered a resolution entitled: A RES)LUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA EMPLOYING WALTER LOVE. LACE AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER AND FIXING HIS SALARY OR COMPENSATION. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Mace that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1357. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace that a warrant be drawn upon the Water Fund for $30.00 and one upon the Light Fund for $30.00 in favor of Jack Pierce for use of his car. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the City Council cancel the minute notation in minutes of meeting held July 17, 1933, in which a motion was made and carried to cancel the Contract between the City of Azusa and Los Angeles County Health Department. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Minute notation of July 17th regarding Health Contract cancelled.
