Present at roll call: Councilmen: Mace.' Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of August 21, 1933 were read and approved 'as read. A communication from Giles S. Porter, Director oP„Public Health, stating that the City Council's request to establish a sewage treatment plant on the South side of First Street, had been granted by the State Board of Public Health, was read. Moved-and.carried that same be placed on file. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace and duly carried that communication from the Riverside Chamber of -,Commerce, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Azusa City Planning Commission be placed on file. Councilman Morden offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE;OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 'CITY -'OF AZUSA'DECLARING VACANT FOR PUBLIC STREET PURPOSES A`C•ERTAIN PORTION OF SIERRA MADRE"AVENUE WITHIN SAID CITY. to=be'placed upon its first reading. This Ordinance was then read for the ' first,time. 9 request, made by Anthony Ortuno to establish a Spanish restaurant with dancing for patrons, was read... Moved'by Councilman Calvert, seconded by'Councilman Mace and duly carried that'this matter be referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole. The matter cf replacing signs for the Collector of Light & Water and the Sup- erintendent of Light and Water was, upon motion made by.Councilmen Calvert seconded by Councilman Morden, referred to the Board of Public Works with Power to Act. Councilman Morden offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO ACQUIRE SUFFICIENT SPREADING LANDS TO MEET THE WATER CON- SERVATION OF THE SAN GABRIEL'RIVER. Moved by Councilman Calyert, seconded by Councilman Johnson that this resolu- tion be -adopted as read and humbered Resolution No. 1359.
