M. CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, September.25, 1933 7:30 P.M. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of September 5, 1933 were read and approved as read. A,communication from Giles S. -Porter reaffirming,- the permit granted Communication filed. August 26, 1933, for the proposed sewage disposal, was read. Moved and carried that same be placed on file. C. E. Gauldin, Chief of Police, made a request for a vacation. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Calvert that same be granted with pay. Carried by the following . vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Elmer T. Lee;,representing the Negro Benefit Concert, requested the use of the Auditorium. No action taken.' Councilman Morden offered a Resolution ent;.,tled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, LEVYING - TAXES AND FIXING THE TAX RATE OF ALL PROPERTY -IN SAID CITY FOR ALL MUNICIPAL PURPOSES AND TO -PAY THE BONDED -INDEBTED- NESS THEREOF AND INTEREST ON THE SAME FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1933-1934. Moved by Councilman Calvert, seconded by.Councilman Morden that this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1361. Carried by the following vote of the' Council:. Ayes: Councilmen: Mace,' Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. 'Noes: None. Absent: None. ,.,Councilman Marden offered a resolu- tion entitled: r9.RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF'.-' THE CITY OF'AZUSA TRANSFERRING FUNDS. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Mace that this Resolu- tion be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1362. Carried by the following.,vote of the Council: Ayes: 'Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent:, None. Councilman Morden -offered an ordinance entitled - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY -COUNCIL OF ' THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING VACANT FOR PUBLIC STREET PURPOSES A CERTAIN PORTION OF SIERRA MADRE AVENUE WITH- IN SAID CITY. to be placed upon its second reading. C. E. Gauldin granted vacation with pay. Request for use of Auditorium made and no action taken. RESOLUTION NO. 1361 ADOPTED. RESOLUTION NO. 1362 ADOPTED. 3A4 Mrs. Martin, President of the Mother's Auxiliary of the,Boy Scouts, requested permission to use the Auditorium on Thursday, the 10th day of November, 1933. Moved by Councilman Mryrden,:seconded ORDINANCE NO. 303 by Councilman�'Calvert that this` ADOPTED. Ordinance.be adopted as read and numbered Ordinance No. 303. The following named persons -made application Five applications for renewals of permit to sell Alcoholic granted. ' Beverages: John R. Parr,•Nathan Becker, Leigh G. Garnsey, Charles C. Collins and James Marquis, Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Mace that same be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Peter Mayhew made application for a' Class A. license.and,F. J. Moran for F. J. Moran granted permission to distribute Alcoholic distrubutors license. 'Beverages. , Moved by Councilman Morden,k seeorded' by Councilman Mace that F. J. Moran be granted a license. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes:' Councilmen: _Mace, Calvert, Johflson - Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent:, None. Moved by Councilman Mace„ seconded'by Pouncilman Jphnson that Peter Mayhew`be denied a license due to the fact that Peter Mayhew -denied he is not a resident of the City of a license. Azusa. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Madison appeared before the Council No action taken on in behalf of the Azusa Fire Department, request of Fire Dept. ,requesting permission to sponsor it street • carnival. No action was taken.
