The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time rand place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Morden, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Calvert and Meier. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded Councilman Mace by Councilman Johnson and duly carried appointed to act in ' that Councilman Mace act as chairman Mayor's absence. of the meeting in Mayor Meier's absence. The minutes of the last regular meeting of October 2, 1933 were read and approved as -read. Councilman Calvert entered the meeting and took his seat. Notice of meeting of the San Gabriel Notice read & ordered Valley Protective Association was read filed. and ordered placed on file. A communication from the League of Calif- Communication order- ornia Municipalities and one from the ed placed on.file:` City of Beverly Hills were read and ordered placed on file. A communication from,the University of Communication order- Southern'California School of Government ed placed on file. was read and ordered placed on file. A eommuncation signed by M. A. Cunning- ham, acting Secretary,,. -6f the League of ' California Municipalities relative to Federal loan was read. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Johnson that same be referred to City Engineer, Paul Kressly. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Morden and -duly carried that the Matter of adjustment with the Assets Reconstruction Corp., Ltd. re- lative to the Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association; Trust #B- 2433be submitted to the City Attorney to work out a satisfactory arrangement and report at the next regular meeting. Moved by Councilman Morden,,seconded by Councilman Calvert that the -City Attorney be instructed to attend a hearing held before Railroad Commission, on inter -City telephone rates. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Meier. ' The City Clerk announced that she had received eight sealed bids in answer to Notice calling for sealed bids to furnish the City of Azusa with a truck chassis of two or three tons range capacity and one winch three-fourths to two tons capacity. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Calvert that these bids be now opened. .-.esaminedcind^publicly declared. Communication re- ferred to City Engineer. Matter relative - to Trust No. B-243 re• ferred to City Attorney. Hans Norberg appeared before the Council and made request that the lot on Azusa Avenue belonging to Chas. Stiefvater, be cleared as he considers it a fire hazard. This matter was referred to the Superintendent of Streets. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the Chief of Police be authorized to appoint a special police officer to patrol the school crossings on Eleventh Street from 8:20 A. M. to 9:00 A. M. from 12: Noon until 1:00 P. M. and from 2:00 P. M. u^til 3:20 P. M. Carried by -the following, vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson,'MRrden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Nine. Moved by'Councilmanc,Johnson;;sedoncded byuCouncilman-,Macec-that Superintendent Jack Pierce, be authorized to pull the pump in the South well and salvage same. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Calvert, Johnson, Morden, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. ' Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Morden that the City Clerk be authorized to return to the unsuccess- ful biders the certified checks that accompanied the bids -on truck for Light Department.
