RESOLUTION NO. 5125
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 BY CHANGING
OR ADOPTING CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES FOR CERTAIN
POSITIONS AND AMENDING EXHIBIT A ATTACHED THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resove as
follows:
SECTION 1. The classification schedules attached to Reso-
lution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, are hereby
amended by substituting the classification schedules for Assistant
City Engineer and Special Services Officer, which are attached here-
to and made a part hereof, in place and stead of the classification
schedules for Assistant City Engineer and Special Investigator,
respectively, as now attached to said resolution.
SECTION 2. That portion of Exhibit A attached to said
Resolution No. 46930 relating to Special Investigator in the City
Clerk's Department is hereby deleted; and that portion of said
Exhibit A relating to the Police Department reading:
"1 Police Officer 21"
(assigned as Special Investigator)
is amended to read:
"1 Special Services Officer 20"
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.

ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER

Under administrative direction, assists in supervising the
planning, designing, and inspecting of the Engineering De-
partment; and does related work as required.
Representative Duties
Supervises the preparation of plans and specifications for
public works projects such as streets, sewers, storm drains,
water system projects and structures; assigns design jobs,
reviews work in progress, approves completed designs and
specifications and submits them to the City Engineer for sig-
nature; supervises field surveying, engineering and inspection
work; coordinates major construction'project work with the re-
quirements of public utility companies, other public agencies
and private property owners; participates in difficult right-
of-way acquisition proceedings; receives and settles difficult
and unusual public complaints and requests relating to street
openings, driveways and sewers; prepares engineering studies
and reports on future project plans, changes in engineering
departmental methods and procedures and similar matters;
attends and participates in.conferences and meetings; assumes
the duties of the City Engineer in his absence.
Organizational Relationships
Assistant City Engineer is a one -position class in the Engi-
neering Department ranking above the level of Civil Engineering
Associate and below the level of City Engineer. An employee
in this class reports directly to the City Engineer and super-
vises all lower level engineering personnel.

SPECIAL SERVICES OFFICER

Under the direction of the Commanding Officer of the Police
Department, who will coordinate and assign requests received
from authorized personnel, enforces business, building and
zoning Ordinances, Rules and Regulations; and does related
work as required.
Representative Duties
Observes and reports violations of licensing, building,
zoning, safety and health regulations; issues citations, signs
complaints, and makes arrests when warranted; reports violations
of health regulations to appropriate official; observes peddlers
and solicitors and ascertains whether they are properly licensed;
inspects new businesses to make sure that proper licenses have
been obtained; reviews advertisements and notices to locate new
businesses; follows up on business licenses to be renewed; ans-
wers inquiries and handles complaints regarding license regula-
tions; provides information of other City departments whose
approval is required; fills in license blanks and files copies
_ of licenses; maintains suitable records.
Special Services Officer is a one -position class in the Police
Department, working under the direct supervision of the Command-
ing Officer. An employee of this class is authorized to issue
citations and arrest offenders of the municipal code licensing,
building and zoning rules and regulations.
