HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 51240 0 RESOLUTION NO. 5124 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ENDORSING PROPOSITION 1-A ON THE NOVEMBER 8, BALLOT. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the people of the State of California did vote in November, 1962, urging revision of California's out- moded and unwieldy State Constitution; and WHEREAS, the State Constitution Revision Commission, duly named to carry out the expressed will of the people of California, has drafted and recommended major changes in the State Constitution covering legislative procedures, and other important matters, and WHEREAS, the State Legislature of the State of California has approved the recommendations of the State Constitution Revision Commission, and has referred the. recommendations to the people for approval, under the Title of Proposition 1-A on the November 8 ballot, and; WHEREAS, this proposition will provide for more effective state government by modernizing and expediting legislative procedures, and, WHEREAS, Proposition 1-A has been endorsed and is supported by the Democratic State Central Committee and the Republican State Central Committee, by the State Federation of Labor (AFL-CIO), the State Chamber of Commerce, the California League of Womens Voters, by Governor Edmund (Pat) Brown, and his Republican opponent, Mr. Ronald Reagan, plus a large majority of the responsible political leaders of both parties in the State of'California, therefore BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Azusa endorses and supports Proposition 1-A, and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa urges and recommends that all citizens of the City of Azusa do vote "YES" on Proposition 1-A on November 8, in the interests of good government. Adopted and approved this 20th day of October, 1966.
