Present at roll call:: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Mayor Morden. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Meier and duly carried that ' Councilman Chester act as Mayor Pro tem, in the absence of Mayor Morden. The minutes of the last reL7ular meeting of June 18 and the regular adjourned meetings of June 22, 1034, were read and approved as read. Applications presented by G. C. Bowman and Edward Drendel were read and ordered placed on file. Dan. S. Beach requested the use of the Auditorium on'July'20, 1934. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Meier that this request be granted. Carried by the following voteof the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. A letter signed by Mrs. McCardle, re- 1 questing the City Council to verify a verbal O.K. given on a permit granted her by the Los Angeles County Health Department, to operate a hospital in Azusa in 1927, was read. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that the letter be placed on file and the City Clerk instruct- ed to inform Mrs. McCardel that the present Council are not familiar with the circum- stances as they were known to exist at that time, and Qould take no action in the matter. 23 7:30 P.M. Councilman Chester to act as Mayor Pro tem. Minutes read. Applications filed. Use of Auditorium granted. Mrs. McCardel's re- quest referred to City Clerk. A letter expressing Mr. Carpenter's appreciation for the use of the Slauson Letter read and ordered Memorial Plunge was read and ordered placed placed on file. on file. A communication regarding the contract be- tween the City of Azusa and the Los Angeles County Healthy Department, was read. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this matter be re- ferred to the City Attorney. ' A communication from Mr. Bidwell, City Attorney of the City of Glendora, relative to an agreement between the City of Glen- dora and the City of Azusa for the exchange of use of the fire equipment, was read and ordered placed on file. Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution entitled: Communication read and filed. Communication read and filed. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE AND ENTER INTO IN BEHALF OF SAID CITY TWO CERTAIN AGREEMENTS WITH THE CITY OF GLENDORA. THE FIRST RE- LATING TO INHALATOR SERVICE AND THE SECOND TO MUTUAL FIRE EQUIPMENT SERVICE, AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST THE SAME. 50HGU _ 25 MINUTES'OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD JULY 2, 1934. 7:30 P.M. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this Resolution RESOLUTION NO. 1414. be adopted as read and numbered Resolution ADOPTED. No. 1414. Carried by the following voteof the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. Two bids offering the purchase price of_:a Ford. Sedan were read and ordered placed on file. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TRANSFERRING FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS ($528:00) FROM THE "DELINQUENT STREET ASSESSMENT ACCOUNT" TO THE SERIES ACCOUNT. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1415. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Am old, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. A communication signed by F. A. Baughn was read and ordered placed on file. Moved by Councilman Arnold,seconded by Councilman Malone that the City Council accept a Deed from W. W. Bently. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. Councilman Meier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ORDERING A CERTAIN GRANT DEED RECORDED. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered*Resolution No. 1416. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes; Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. ' The City Clerk announced that she had received three sealed bids for the re- moval of garbage. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that these bids be now opened, examined and publicly declared. RESOLUTION NO. 1415 ADOPTED. Communication read and filed. City Council accept Deed from W. w. Bently. RESOLUTION NO. 1416 ADOPTED. Three bids received for Disposal of Garbage. R. B. Sells - Bid for Garbage Collection - $30.00 W. A. Councilman Meier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZCNG AND DIEECTING THE MAYOR OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE AND ENTER INTO IN BEHALF OF SAID CITY A CERTAIN Ar-REEMENT WITH RAYMOND B. SELLS RELATIVE TO THE COLLECTION, REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE AND PU THORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST THE SAME. ' Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read'and numbered Resolution NO. 1417. Dr. Brooks addressed the City Council on the matter of Business License Bond. No action was taken. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Arnold, and duly carried that the City Clerk be instructed to remove the telephone located in Wm. J. Holden's garage and the one in the Auditorium. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Arnold that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign a warrant in the amount of ' $100.00 representing Paul E. Smith's salary from June 1 to 25 inclusive, payable to the Covina Justice Court pursuant to AFADAVIT and ABSTRACT OF JUDGEMENT, filed with the City Clerk on June 26, 1934, under the provisions of C.C.P. 710 in action of A. Taricco versus Paul E. Smith No. A 1449 in said Court, and to sign a warrant in the amount of $20.00, representing Mr. Smith's salary from June 26 to June 30 in- clusive, made payable to Mr. Smith. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden.
