Present at roll call: Councilman: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester, Morden, and City Clerk. Absent: City Attorney. The minutes of the last regular meeting ' of July 16, 1934 were read and approved as read. A communication addressed to the City Council and signed by the Secretery of the ` Azusa Public Library was read. Moved bar Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone and duly carried that same be tabled until the next regular meeting. A communication signed by Leland Poage, was read and ordered placed on file. A communication from M. H. Bowman, President of the San Gabriel Valley Protective Assoc- iation expressing the appreciation of the Executive Board for the cooperation extend- ed'by the pity of Azusa, was read and order- ed placed on file. A communication from the Pacific Electric Railway Company, relative to the trees on Ninth Street, was read. ' Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that this matter be re- ferred to the Board of Public Works with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes; Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that the matter of pay- ing renewal premium of $350..00 to the State Compensation Insurance Fund be referred to the Audit and Finance Uommittee, with power to act. Councilman Chester offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OrAZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIF- ORNIA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OR SAID CITY TO EXECUTE AND ENTER INTO IN BEHALF OF SAID CITY A CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES RELATIVE TO THE PERFORMANCE BY THE COUNTY OF CER- TAIN PUBLIC HEALTH FUNCTIONS IN SAID CITY AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST THE SAME. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1419. KIMBRELL AS REGULAR POLICE OFFICER (MOTORCYCLE DETAIL). Moved by Councilmen Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1420. Councilman Meier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TRANSFERRING THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS (3000.00) FROM THE STATE HIGH- WAY ROUTE NUMBER 62 FUND TO THE GENERAL FUND. Moved by Councilman Arnold,seconded by Councilman Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1421. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilman: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: RESOLUTION NO. 1421 ADOPTED. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF TWO THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN RESOLUTION NO. 1422 DOLLARS AND SEVENTY THREE CENTS (20367.73) ADOPTED. FROM THE LIGHT RESERVE FUND TO 1915 ACT IMPROVEMENT FUND. Moved by Councilmm Councilman Chester adopted as read ane No. 1422. Arnold, seconded by that this Resolution be numbered Resolution 50HGU o 41 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AUGUST 6, 1934. 7:30 P.M. Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE ' CITY OFT`AZUSA AUTHORIZING AND EMPOWERING THE CITY ENGINEER OF SAID CITY TO SIGN AND FILE AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE EMERGENCY RELIEF ADMINISTRATION FOR A PROJECT TO BE KNOWN AS "IMPROVEMENT OF PARAMOUNT AVE., ALAMEDA AVE., AND DALTON AVE., IN THE CITY OF AZUSA." Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1423. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Arnold, Meier., Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Malone not voting. Two'bids for fleet insurance on Uity owned cars and Public Liability and Property Damage on employees cars, were offered by Owens-Vosburg, Insurance Agency and J. C. Muehe. ' Moved by Councilmam Meier, seconded by Councilman Arnold .that this matter be re- ferred to the Audit and Finance Committee with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilman: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester, Mordsn. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Malone,seconded by Councilman Arnold and duly carried that the Mayor appoint a committee of three to negotiate for a suitable site for a City well. Mayor Morden appointed members of this Committee as follows: John Akard Chas. Carr Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Chester that the City Council approve the action of the Mayor. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Arnold that the City of Azusa honor the request made by the U. S. Department of Agriculture by ourchasing a weather recording machine, to be in- stalled near the City Hall. Carried by the following vote of the Council• Ayes: Councilman: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. J. C. Muehe appeared before the City Council and presented the annual report of the Azusa Public Library. Mr. Strang addressed the City Council re- garding the severing of the two main alleys. No action was taken. Mr. W. D. Gillispie also addressed the Council requesting that a project be started in order to create work for the unemployed. He was informed that such a project is under way. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Chester that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
