The City Council of the Cita* of Azusa
met in regular session at the above time
and place.
Present at roll call:
Arnold,- Meier,.Chester,
and City Clerk.
Councilmen: Malone,
Morden, City Attorney
The minutes of the last regular meeting of
August 6, 1934 were read and approved as read.
An -application for the office of Azusa Health
Department offered by Dr. Harold L. Brooks,
was read.
Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Council-
man Malone that this application be tabled.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier,
Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Malone offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF FIVE THOUS-
AND DOLLARS (5000.00) FROM THE LIGHT FUND
TO THE GENERAL FUND.
Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be
adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.
1424.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier,
Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
The monthly report of the Los Angeles County
Health Department was offered and ordered
placed on file.
The matter of improving the alley in Block
27_was introduced.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Malone that same be referred to
the Board of Public Works with power to act.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier,
Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: Bone.
Chas. Carr reported in detail in behalf of
the Committee(John Akard, Chas. Carr and
Samuel Bierbower) upon the investigation
made by the Committee for the purpose of
assisting the City Council in selecting the
most suitable location for the purchase of
a City Well Site. His report included the
following:

5 acres West of City well No. 11 owned by Vosburg Brothers, Inc.
10 acres on the corner of Vernon and 11th St. and North of 11th
St., owned by Vosburg Brothers, Inc. With this 10 acres an
additional 10 -acres was offered gratis, by Mr. Vosbura, for Park
purposes.

Mr. Carr reported, according to the findings of the Committee, the
best water bearing land is in the second basin as it drops down
further, being a larger basin it has a greater area to draw from,
While the first basin is small and does not have the source of
supply.
Mr. Vosburg's tentative offer included no limit placed on the
amount of water and if the City was unableto locate a suitable
supply there would be no obligation.
The first ' suggested price for the 10 acres was: $25,000.1 the second price $17,500., and the third price $15,000. After a
general discussion of the whole matter it was moved by Councilman
Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that this Committee continue
to function until the 4th of September, submitting, to the Council,
at that time, a definite price and the terms under which the City
might purchase the property of Vosburg Brothers, Inc.
Carried by the followinm vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier,
Chester, Morden,
Noes: None. Absent: 'Pone.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by
Councilman Chester that the following bills
be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon
the Treasury for the same.
Carried by the following vote of the Bills.
