RESOLUTION NO. 5323
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES GOVERN-
MENT TO ISSUE A COMMEMORATIVE POSTAGE STAMP
IN THE YEAR 1969, COMMEMORATING THE 200TH
ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the
State of California will be celebrated in 1969; and
WHEREAS, an event of such importance to the State of
California should be memorialized in the issuance of a commem-
orative United States postage stamp; and
WHEREAS, the United States Post Office Department re-
ceives each year numerous requests for commemorative issues;
and
WHEREAS, a favorable response to a request for a
stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the founding of
the State of California could best be obtained by one single
effort in which all interested cities and counties of the State
of California could join; and
WHEREAS, such an effort will be made late in December,
1967, in a presentation to be made by the Commemorative Stamp
and Philatelic Exhibit Committee of San Diego's 200th Anniversary,
Inc.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. That the City Council of the City of Azusa
supports the concept of the issuance in 1969
of a United States postage stamp commemorating
the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the
State of California.
2. That the City Clerk shall forward a certified
copy of this resolution to the City Clerk of
the City of San Diego so that it may be in-
cluded in the presentation to be made to the
United States Post Office Department by San Diego's
local committee to the end that the wholehearted
support of the various agencies in the State to
the concept of a California commemorative stamp
may be demonstrated.
3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution.

adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 20th day of November, 1967, by the
following vote of the Council:
