HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5318follows: • RESOLUTION NO. 5318 • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 BY CHANGING THE CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES FOR POLICE CLERK AND SENIOR POLICE CLERK. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as SECTION 1. The classification schedules attached to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, are hereby amended by substituting the classification schedule for Police Clerk and Senior Police Clerk, which are attached hereto and made a part hereof, in place and stead of the respective classification schedules for Police Clerk and Senior Police Clerk, as now attached to said resolution. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. Adopted and approved this 6th day of November , 1967. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 6th day of November , 19672 by the following vote of the CouncU: AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Calvert, Solem, McLees, Cooney NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None IM POLICE CLERK Job Summary Under supervision, to transcribe police reports; and records traffic citations. Operates teletype machine and handles inquiries from other agencies and relays information. Composing and typing letters; and assisting officers in process- female prisoners. Representative Duties Typing court complaints and disposition sheets of legal nature; preparing index cards on all reported incidents; preparing pro- per files on prisoners and criminal registrants and forwarding certain information to"State and Federal igencies; processing wars and warrant cards and routing to ;proper division or agency. Handling inquiries from other agencies via'telephone, mail or at counter, checking files or other sources of informa- tion and properly relaying information to requesting agency. Composing, typing and sending letters and/or reports to author- ized persons or agencies. In processing female prisoners, assisting in transportation, booking, fingerprinting and interr Class Characteristic - This is a specialized entering level clerical class in the Police Department. Incumbents r&V be assigned to any shift or rotated among shifts. \J a SENIOR POLICE CLERK QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Training and Experience. • 1-7 Graduation from high school and three years of responsible office, typing, and public contact experience, preferably in a municipal or law enforcement agency. Knowledge and Ability A thorough knowledge of modern office practices including filing, indexing', cross referencing methods; a,thorough knowledge of correct punctuation, spelling and grammatical-usage;a general knowledge of elementary bookkeeping practices; ability to learn'rapidly and apply specific laws, ordinances, office policies, regulations, and proce- dures; the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and other employees; the ability to perform complex clerical work and to make arithmetical' computations; the ability to make difficult file searches; initiative in'organizing work and completing assigned tasks; and the ability to plan, lay out and direct the work of others, 0 Skills A typing speed of 55 words per minute and shorthand speed of 100 words per minute.
