RESOLUTION NO. 5230
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 BY CHANGING
THE CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR CITY ENGINEER
AND AMENDING EXHIBIT A ATTACHED THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. The classification schedules attached to Reso-
lution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, are hereby amended
by substituting the classification schedule for City Engineer, which is
attached hereto and made a part hereof, in place and stead of the classi-
fication schedule for City Engineer, as now attached to said resolution.
SECTION 2. That portion of Exhibit A attached to said
Resolution No. 4693, relating to the Engineering Department reading:

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.

Under. administrative direction, to plan, organize, control and
coordinate all engineering and public works functions of the
City; advises the City.Council, administrative officials,'boards
and commissions on engineering and public works matters; per-
forms related work as required,,.,
Representative Duties
Acts as advisor to the City Administrator on engineering and
public works matters; directs and coordinates all public works
-operations In the City; advises on major engineering work In
progress whether performed by City persohnei.or private contract-
ors; plans long range projects and gives over-all direction to
the work of the engineering functions of surveying and mapping,
traffic engineering, procurement of right-of-way, inspection of
public works projects, the maintenance and construction of city
parks and sewage facilities, the maintenance and construction of
streets, sidewalks, drainage structures, assists with the devei-
opment and coordination of City planning operations; directs the
preparation of, and reviews plans, specifications, estimates and
contracts for major projects of public works, street construction
and municipal structures; reviews and approves final subdivision
'maps and subdivision improvement plans; confers with subdividion
contractors and engineers on problems relating to subdivision
Improvements and public works design, construction and:providing
engineering information and advice. Advises other municipal of-
ficials on engineering and'pubilc'works proposals; directs and
conducts studies and prepares reports on proposed improvements,
repairs, or changes in public works; directs the keeping of ac-
curate'records, maps, field notes and memoranda; directs and
performs research in regard to equipment and operations employed
in public works; advises on the acceptance,of bids and the order-
ing of supplies and equipment; prepares and coordinates depart-
mental budget estimates; reviews divisional operations schedules
with regard to budget balances; prepares reports on the.progress
or completion of public works or repairs; represents the depart-
ment at meetings, conferences and conventions of public works or
engineering personnel as requested.
Organizational Relationships
The 'City Engineer • is a one -position class. An employee In
this position reports to the City Administrator and City Council,
and directs the operations of the Public Works Department, and
directly supervises the Engineering Department,

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Education and'Experience
Minimum Requirements Graduation from'college or university
with a degree in civil engineeiing.and'flve,years•of progress-
ively responsible and varied professional civil• engineering x
experience involving the design, construction, maintenance, or
operation 'of a variety of public works, at. l'ea'st two years of
which shall have been•ln.a,supervisory capacity over•profes- .,
sional and,sub-professional engineerdng,personnel, ,
Knowledge and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of.municipal pubiic.works planning,.design,
and construction;.thoroughr,knowledge.of public works management,
budgeting, and • costcaccounting; thorough.knowiedge of the prin-
ciples of management,: organization, staffing,,'training and
"superv.islon, Good knowledge -of civil 'engtneering.principles
related to.parks,-planning, streets.and highways,.pubiic build-
ings, and related public works, good knowledge of the technical
