Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Arnold that Councilman Chester act as Mayor Pro tem in the absence of Mayor Morden. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. Councilman Chester not voting. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Absent: Mayor Morden. The minutes of the last regular meeting of October 1, 1934 were read and approved as read. 75 - Councilman Chester to act as Mayor Pro tem in the absence of Mayor Morden. Heuser regarding the rental of a roller, was read. Moved and carried that same be referred to the City Attorney. Moved and carried that syment of bill for 46.13 be authorized. Matter of roller rental referred to the City Attorney. A communication from P. M. Benton, Finance Loan for improvement of Director for the Federal Emergency Adminis- present water system tration, regarding the City of Azusa's referred to the City application for a loan for the purpose of Council as a Committee improving the present grater system, was read. of the Whole, with power to act. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Malone that same be referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole with power to act. Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. The Standard Oil Company presented a three Standard Oil Company months contract for the purchase of gas- presented 90 day contract oline. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Meier and duly carried that the City buy gasoline in the open market and not under contract. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. 76- 77 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 15, 1934. 7:30 P.M. A request to hang a "Merriam for Governor" banner across the street, was read. Moved by Councilman Meier that same be denied. Councilman Meier withdrew his motion. A request to hang a "Sinclair for Governor" banner was offered. Request to hang Merrian and Sinclair Moved.by Councilman Malone, seconded by Banners granted. ' Councilman Chester that permission be granted to hang both the Sinclair and the Merriam Banners. ,-Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes:- Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Chester. Noes: Councilman Meier. Absent: Mayor Morden. The matter of providing rental and utilities S.E.R.A. Project referred for the S.E.R.A. sewing project was referred to Board of Public Works. to the Board of Public Works, with power to act. Moved and carried that the City Council authorize the expenditure of $5000 for legal advise in the matter of 1915 Act Bonds, subject to the approval of the City Attorney. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Meier, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Morden. Matter of an expenditure of $50.00 referred to the City Attorney. Mr. J. C. Muehe addressed the City Council ' relative to the water drainage on Sixth J. C. Muehe addressed Street, requesting that the water not be the Council. allowed to run through ditch on Sixth Street between Pasadena and Cerritos Avenues. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Meier that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same. Bills.
