CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. DECEMBER 31 1934. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above time
and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
Malone, Arnold, Chester, Morden, City
Attorney and City Clerk.
Absent: Councilman Meier.
The minutes of the last regular meeting
of November 19, 1934 were read and approved
' as read.
Communications from D. W. Pontius, President
of the Pacific Electric Railway Company,
Richard Graves, Secretary of the League of Communications read and
California Municipalities, and J. P. Walker, ordered placed on file.
Secretary of the Los Angeles County League
were read and ordered placed on file.
A written report, submitted by the Azusa
City Planning Commission, relative to the Report submitted by the
petition requesting the removal of pepper City Planning Commissior
trees on Azusa Avenue was read.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold and duly carried that
same be placed on file.
A quotation on a Ford V-8 De Luxe Sedan for
the Police Department, was presented by Quotations on a new
Peyton R. Hough, resident manager for the Ford ordered placed on
local Ford Dealer. file.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by

file.
An application for the position of City
Engineer was presented by W. C. Steele, Jr. An application for the
office of City Engineer
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by presented and ordered
Councilman Chester that same be referred to placed on file.

Councilman Chester offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO PUR- RESOLUTION NO. 1435
CHASE ONE AUSTIN TWELVE TON ROLLER. ADOPTED.
Moved by Counciman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Malone that this Resolution be
adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.

Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Chester,
Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Meier.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
authorized to advertise for bids for material
to be used in the improvement of the crossings
on Alameda, Dalton and Soldano Avenues, the
bids to be filed not later than 7 o'clock on
Tuesday January 2, 1935. The City Council to
reserve the right to reject any and all bids.

Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Chester,
Morden.
Noes:, None. Absent: Councilman Meier.

Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the Council adjourn
for thirty minutes and enter an executive Executive session.

Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that a warrant be issued
payable to Dr. J. Harold Brooks in the sum of
$115.00 in payment of his bill previously Dr. Brooks bill of
disallowed which warrant is to be delivered to $115. allowed.
the Mayor who is authorized and directed to
deliver the same to Dr. Brooks in payment of
his bill, provided that Dr. Brooks enter into
an agreement to execute on behalf of the City,
which agreement shall provide in substance
that Dr. Brooks agree to repay said sum of
$115.00 to the City in the event a final
judgment shall be entered in any legal action
determining that the payment of the bill by
the City is illegal.

Ayes: Councilmen: Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: Councilman Malone.
Absent: Councilman Meier.
Moved by Councilman Malone that the City
purchase a Ford Sedan for the Police Depart-
ment. Motion lost due to lack of a second.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
authorized to publish a "Notice of Public
Hearing" to be held on Monday December 17,
1934 at 7:30 P.M. to hear protests on the
petition presented to the City Council re-
questing the removal of pepper trees on Azusa
Avenue between Second and Fourth Streets.

Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Chester,
Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: Counciman Meier.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Malone that the following pur-
chase orders be authorized.
No. 1129-1130-1131-1132-1133-1134-1135-1137.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Arnold, Chester,
Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Meier.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by
Councilman Chester that the following bills
be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the
Treasury for the same.
