A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 RELATING TO
THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION AND COMPENSATION WITH
RESPECT TO THE OFFICE OF DIRECTOR OF CIVIL DEFENSE
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 7, 1968.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached to
Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, relating
to the Director of .Civil Defense, is hereby amended by the addi-
tion thereto of the following:
"Assistant Director of Civil Defense $588.00 per mo."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
Adopted and approved this 7thday of October ,
1968.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CIVIL DEFENSE
Under direction of the City Administrator, the Assistant
Director is responsible for organizing, developing and coordi-
nating disaster and civil defense plans, programs and proce-
dures. Prepares and submits necessary reports of activities and
status of the civil defense program; and does related work as
required.
Representative Duties
Assists in administering the civil -defense :and :disaster program
for the City of Azusa; advises the City Administrator of policies,
programs, and.directives established by the Civil Defense and
Disaster Federal -authorities, and other governmental and private
agencies andoof news items and legislation affecting the City's
civil defense and disaster program; prepares reports on civil
defense: and disaster planning and other matters; arranges -for
the distribution of informative brochures and materials on.civil
defense matters; schedules and makes arrangements for speaking
.engagements to disseminate information on civil defense .and dis-
aster:;activ,ities; assists in compiling budget requirements,:for
:civ:}d';defense and disaster programs; answers correspondence and
:telephone:cails for information and handles complaints about
-civrl defense and disaster programs.
Coordinates the City's defense and disaster programs with...,
those of other governmental -and private agencies; represents
the.-Uty Administrator in dealing with other agencies and with
civil defense organizations:
Organizational Relationships
An Assistant Defense Director assists the.City.Administrator in
the overall administration of the civil defense and disaster
program for.the City of Azusa. He is responsible for coordinat-
ing.development of programs and activities within the City, and
for coordinating these with programs of other governmental,
military, community and service organizations:

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
Minimum Requirements: High school graduate and two years_,
recent experience in administrative operations, including
.coordinating civil defense and disaster services programs
and activities. Completion of two years of study in a
college or university may be substituted for the required
experience.
Knowledge and Abilities
A thorough -knowledge of the various governmental, military,
industrial,,community, and,service organizations concerned
with civil defense and disaster activities and of their func-
tions; a thorough knowl.edge.of,the..principles, practices,
methods, techniques,_•and problems of civil defense and, disas-
ter planning; a;good knowledge of current developments and
trends in civil defense and disaster activities; a good know-
ledge of local, state, and federal regulations a_nd.po licies
•.affecting civil defense and disaster activities; a•good-•know-
ledge of the techniques and methods for•disseminating Informa-
tion concerning -civil defense and disaster activ,itles;-a working
knowledge of; City departments and their functions.'t Fe ab N ity
to prepare oral reports, and written. reports and..recommendations
concisely, logically, and convincingly; the abilbty to speak con-
vincingly before various groups; the abiil.ty,topdminister a
