RESOLUTION NO. 5470
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE ENACTMENT
OF PROPOSITION "A" AT THE GENERAL ELECTION,
TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 5, 1968.
WHEREAS, the problems of moving people and goods in the
Los Angeles area is of critical importance to the continued growth
of this dynamic area; and
WHEREAS, our growing population is making it impossible
for residents to move quickly and dependably between jobs and
homes without improved public transportation; and
WHEREAS, the California Division of Highways estimates
that by 1980 thousands of commuters will be unable to enter major
freeways during rush hours; and
WHEREAS, Proposition "A" on the November ballot provides
for a half -cent sales tax to fund improved public transportation --
including 89 miles of modern, smog -free rapid transit and new and
augmented bus services throughout the county;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Azusa hereby supports the program of the Southern
California Rapid Transit District; endorses Proposition "A" for a
half -cent sales tax on the November 5 ballot; and urges the citi-
zens of the City of Azusa to vote "yes" November 5, on Proposition
"All.

adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 16th day of September, 1968, by the
following vote of the Council:
