HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5530RESOLUTION NO. 5530 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF'AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 RELATING TO THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION, COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND AMENDING EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED THERETO EFFECTIVE-FEBRUARY:3, 1969• The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That portion of Exhibit A attached to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, relating to the Fire Department, is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following: 113 Battalion Chief Range 390 SECTION 2. That portion of Exhibit A attached to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, relating to the Fire Department, is hereby amended by the deletion there- from of the following: "1 Assistant Fire Chief Range 40A 1 Assistant Fire Chief (Part Time) $321.00 per month" SECTION 3. The classification schedules attached to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, are hereby amended by adding thereto the classification schedule for Battalion Chief, which is attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. 1969• Adopted and approved this 3rd day of February ayor I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on therd day of February 1969, by the following vote of thencil: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Cooney, Calvert, Solem Councilmen: None Councilmen: None City Clerk 0 0 BATTAL1014 CHIEF Job Summary E-3 Under direction, assists in planning and directing the work of the Fire Departm^at in the protection of life and property from -losses due to fire.; directs an adequate city-wide grogram of fire prevention; trains, inspects, evaluates, and disciplines Fire Department personnel; and does related work as required. Representative Duties Assists in planning, directing and reviewing the activities of personnel performing fire inspection, fire prevention, and fire fighting; assumes command of the Fire Department in the absence of the Fire Chief; answers all fire alarms and is in charge until the Fire Chief's arrival; may be assigned to direct the opera- tion of the Fire Prevention Bureau; investigates fires to deter- mine causes and maintains records of fires, including losses to buildings and contents; insurance coverage and insurance paid; submits weekly, monthly, and annual reports; drills volunteers at meetings; maintains 'records of fires and time worked by volun- teers at meetings; maintains records of fires and time worked by volunteers; receives and interviews callers on departmental business; attends conventions; responds to emergency calls when off duty. Organizational Relationships An employee in this class reports to the Fire Chief and assists . in supervising the entire operation of the Fire Department, including the Fire Captains, the Fire Inspector, the Fire Engineers, and the Firemen. May serve as Acting Fire Chief by..designation. Rev. 1/69 0 0 F,3 BATTALION CHIEF QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Training and Experience Minimum Requirements: Five years of professional fire experience, of which at least 2 years must have been at the Fire Captain level. Effective January 1, 1966, the training requirements for this position shall include the completion of 18 units of college training in the field of fire science, public administration, or related fields, however, the provisions,of this sentence shall not apply to any person holding tbis position,on either a probationary or permanent status on said date. After appointment, an employee should be willing to con- tinue to attend college level classes in fire fighting and related fields in off -hours in order to qualify and meet the requirements for advancement. Knowledge and Abilities A thorough knowledge of modern methods of fire depart- ment administration, knowledge of the methods, techniques and equipment used in the Azusa Fire Department; knowledge of fire prevention, equipment maintenance and drill pro- cedures; ability to plan, lay out and review the activities of the Fire Department and maintain discipline; ability to organize and train volunteers and civilian defense auxili- arise; ability to prepare and review reports; ability to establish and maintain good public relations. License Possession of a valid Advanced First Aid card issued by the American Red Cross.
