A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4.693
RELATING TO THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION,
COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES
OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND AMENDING
EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached
to Resolution No. 46930 adopted July 20, 1964, as amended,
relating to the Planning Department, is hereby amended by the
addition thereto of the following:
"1 Associate Planning Director Range 35"
SECTION 2. The classification schedules attached
to Resolution No. 46930 adopted July 20, 1964, as amended are
hereby amended by adding thereto the classification schedule
for Associate Planning Director, which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a
regular meeting thereof held on the L5tbday of December ,
1969s by the following vote of the Council:

Job Summary
An employee of this class is responsible for technical work preliminary to
or in connection with the preparation of reports, plans, maps, tables, graphs
etc. Work entails the collection of information from various sources, such
as field trips, and/or other governmental agencies; subject to analysis or
decision before preparation of drawings,or charts, or may be prepared indep-
endently, in the absence of the Planning Director, the Associate Planning
Director serves as the administrative official of the Planning CommissTdn,
and would formulate and present planning actions to the Planning Commission
and the City Council; assumes related responsibilities and performs related
duties as required. -
Representative Duties
Conducts surveys and gathers information relating to land use, traffic,
parking, and other community planning problems. Writes reports on studies
pertaining to planning problems and elements of city planning.
Develops maps, charts, and plots; indicates changes and annexations on such
maps; maintains current land use maps.
Makes surveys;of assessment records and compiles statistics for necessary
capital Improvement and annexation programs.
Analyzes factors influencing population trends and projects such trends to
determine future city'expansion.
Compiles informationand makes recommendations on special studies and questions
of land use, such as development of industrial sites -and parks and recreation
areas.
Organizational Relationships
In the absence of a Planning Director, the Associate Planning Director reports
to the Planning Commission on technical planning and zoning policies and co-
ordinates his functions with the City Administrator and City Council on organi-
zational and administrative matters; administers the activities of the Planning
Department and serves as Secretary to the Planning Commission.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
Minimum Requirements: An AA degree or equivalent college training
in community planning, public administrati6fi','engineering or close-
ly related fields, and six months of responsible professional
experience in.local planning at supervisory level.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of city planning.
Some knowledge of economics, municipal finance, and sociology as
applied to city planning.
Ability to perform research on social and economic problems.
Ability to make independent investigations of engineering and related
problans..
Ability to evaluate statistical data and to present facts and conclusions
clearly in written and graphic form.
Ability to establish and'maintain.effect;ive working relationships with
other employees, outside agencies and the"pUb lic.
Skill in the accurate use'bf drafting instruments.
Knowledge of the scope, functions, and capital needs of local govern-
ment; of state law, legal decisions, and'Iegal bases of planning and
zoning.
Ability to assist in the formulation of budget estimates and administer
departmental fiscal matters; to adapt to changing City requirements.
