HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5644T, RESOLUTION NO. 5644 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 RELAT- ING TO THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION, COMPENSA- TION AND CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES OF THE CITY CLERK AND AMENDING EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED THERETO. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, re- lating to the City Clerk, is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following: "1 Switchboard Operator - Receptionist Range 8" SECTION 2. The classification schedules attached to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20; 1964, as amended aie here- by amended by adding thereto the classification schedule for Switchboard Operator - Receptionist, which is attached.hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 3. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, relating to the City Clerk, is hereby amended by the deletion therefrom of the following: "1 Switchboard Operator Range 6" SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. Adopted and approved this 3rd day of November 1969. Representative Duties Answers telephone calls and makes necessary connec- tions; places local and long distance calls; keeps records of calls and toll charges; trains new opera- tors; interviews visitors, answers their questions where possible, and refers them to others for disposi- tion of the case when necessary; issues forms and printed information; receives and sorts mail; checks and balances list of toll Calls and charges and types same; receives and sends telegrams and telephone.mes-, sages; does simple 'clerical and typing work; maintains files; keeps simple records and does follow-up of ac- counts; accepts money and'- issues receipts. Organizational Relationships Switchboard Operator is a specialized one -position class in the City Clerk's office. An employee in this class reports to the City Clerk and may supervise a relief operator. • SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR -RECEPTIONIST C-4 QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE , Training and Experience Minimum Requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent business training,.and one:year.of responsi- ble clerical experience, including the operation of a small switchboard. !: Knowledge and Abilities Thorough knowledge of and.skill in ,operation of, a tele- phone;switchboard;.ability to think and work effectively under stress -and in emergencies; ability to do simple clerical work with speed and.accuracy; ability to under- stand and carry out oral and -written directions_; pleasing voice and clear enunciation; ability to give clear expla- nations and to use proper grammar; ability to, make accur- ate computations; good hearing. Skill Typing at 45 words per minute; skill in the operation of a switchboard.
