The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Malone. The minutes of the last regular meeting of February 4th and the adjourned meeting of February 8, 1935 were read and approved as read. The monthly report of the Los Angeles County Health Department was presented and ordered placed on file. A request, made by John Wesley Grande, Minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, to attach signs to the lighting standards on Foothill Boulevard, was read. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that same be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: 'Councilman Malone. A communication from Chas. E. Wells, re- lating to pepper trees on Azusa Avenue and one from H. V. Owens relative to fire insurance policy were read and ordered placed on file. A communication signed by Mrs. Bowling, requesting the City of Azusa to reimburse her in.the amount of $25.00 for a dog killed by one of the police officers, was offered. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that this matter be referred to the City Attorney. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Malone. A request for free office space, presented by California Forest Experiment Station, was ordered placed on file: Mr. J. C. Muehets resignation as a member of the Library Board was offered. Moved by Councilman Arnold. -seconded by Councilman Carr that sauie'be accepted and placed on file. Moved by Councilman Chester; seconded by Councilman Arnold and duly carried that the City Clerk be instructed to write Mr. Muehe expressing the City Councilts appreciation of his long and faithful service on the Library'Board. Councilman Malone's resignation as a member of the'Azusa City Council was offered. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that same be accepted and placed on file. Minutes read. Report of the Los Angeles County Health Department filed. John Grande granted permission to hang signs. Communications read and ordered placed on file. Mrs. Bowling's request referred to the City Attorney. Request of Forest Experiment Station ordered placed on file. J. C. Muehe's resigna- tion accepted. City Clerk instructed to write Mr. Muehe. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by "Councilman Carr that Councilman Arnold, Chairman of the Purchasing Committee, be Councilman Arnold and he is hereby authorized and directed to authorized to sign sign an agreement between the City of Azusa contract. and the Pacific Rock and Gravel Company, for the purchase of rock, sand and gravel. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr, McIntire, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Arnold not voting. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that the matter of supply- Chief of Police bond ing a bond for the Chief of Police be re- referred to the City ferred to the City Attorney. Absent: None. .Councilman Arnold offered and Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 317 SECTION 8 OF. ORDINANCE 282 OF SAID CITY. ADOPTED. to be placed upon its second reading. This Ordinance was then read for the second time. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that this Ordinance be adopted as read and numbered Ordinance No. 317. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be City Clerk instructed instructed to write Mr. Malone expressing to write Mr. Malone. the City Councils regret. Mayor Morden appointed George N. Hale to fill the vacancy on the Library Board George N. Hale appoint caused by the resignation of J. C. Muehe. ed a member of the Library Board. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr; Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: Norte. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold, that Roy S. McIntire be and he is -hereby appointed a member of the Roy S. McIntire City Council of the City'of Azusa to fill appointed a member the vacancy caused by the resignation of of the City Council. Councilman Walter Malone and to hold this office for the unexpired term. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Roy S. McIntire being present, took the Roy S. McIntire's oath of office as perscribed by law. oath. James Sausedo appeared before the City Council requesting permission to operate a Pool Hall for R. Torres, in the City of Azusa. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Carr and duly carried that this matter be referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole to report back at the next regular meeting. W. D. Singleton, Building Inspector, re- quested the pleasure of the City Council with regard to the removal of a wooden shack which had been erected in the Fire Zone. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold and duly carried that this matter be referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Fielder addressed the City Council with reference to his license fee. Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by Council- man Arnold that the following bills be allow- ed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treas- ury for the same. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Carr, McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Request to operate Pool Hall referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole.
