A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 4693 RELAT-
ING TO THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION, COMPENSA-
TION AND CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES OF THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND AMENDING EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED
THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached to
Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended,
relating to the Police Department, is hereby amended by the
addition thereto of the following:
113 Police Clerk -Dispatcher Range 13"
SECTION 2. The classification schedules attached
to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended,
are hereby amended by adding thereto the classification sched-
ule for Police Clerk -Dispatcher, which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached to
Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, is amended,
relating to the Police Department, is hereby amended by the
deletion therefrom of the following:
"3 Dispatcher Clerks Range 14"
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
Adopted and approved this 3rd day of November, 1969.

regular adjourned meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of November,

POLICE CLERK -DISPATCHER
Job Summary

Under supervision, handles constant receipt and forwarding
of emergency calls via telephone and radio, dispatch of
emergency vehicles, monitoring of burglary and robbery
alarms and alarm checks; receives and routes business tele-
phone inquiries; logs all Departmental activities; notifies
various City Departments and private companies when emergen-
cies exist or services are needed; obtains "wants" on sub-
jects and vehicles for officers in the field; assists in
searching,, fingerprinting, photographing, booking, and
feeding of female prisoners; operates teletype; types
reports, disposition sheets, index cards; may appear as a
witness in court; files and does..related work as required.
Representative Duties
On an assigned shift, receives and disposes of incoming tele-
phone and radio calls; secures and records information as to
problem and location and dispatches necessary equipment;,keeps
,.radio contact with crews on assignment; logs all Departmental
activities; gives out a variety of information related to
Departmental activities to the public; searches and assists in
handling and transporting of female prisoners; monitors burg-
lary and robbery alarms and makes alarm checks as specified;
makes "want" checks via phone and teletype on persons and
vehicles; types reports, disposition sheets, and index cards;
appears as witness in court; files and does related work as
required,
Class Characteristic
This is a specialized entering level In the Police Department.
Incumbents may be assigned to any shift and days off or rotated
among shifts and days off.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Traini'no and Exoerience
High 'school graduate or G:E.O., includ'i'ng6r supplemented'by'
standard courses' in stenography, filing, typing and modern
business practices'; two years recent clerical experience inv-
olving contact with general public requiring alertness and
judgement; ability to type 50 words per minute (from clear
copy ord-ictaphone); possessipn'of a valid Califorrnia
operator's licen'se'
Desl'rable Training and Experience '
PBX experience; dispatching experience (radio - Class.3
Radio -Telephone License); ability to speak Spanfsh.
Knowledge and�Ability
General knowledge of correct`'English, grammar, spelling and
punctuation; good 'knowledge of modern office equipment; proce-
dures and methods'; knowledge of record keeping and simplesta-
tistical'and bookkeeping'records; knowledge of or the ability
to learn the operation of a PBX switchboard, a radio -telephone,
and a teletype machine.
Ability to reason and react effectively in emergency situations;
abi'llty,to comprehend and'•comply with verbal and written.instruc-
tions; ability to work under constant pressure for long`peelods
of time, handling a variety of complex Information; ability to
meet and work tactfully and courteously with the public; ability
to learn the geography of the city; ability.to spealL dearly= -
