A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA AMENDING THE PERSONNEL RULES AND
REGULATIONS AS ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 3914
PERTAINING TO SICK LEAVE, PROMOTION AND RE-
INSTATEMENT
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. After recommendation to the City Council
by the Personnel Board of the City of Azusa, Paragraph 1(a) is
hereby added to Section 85 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations
as adopted by Resolution No. 3914, to read as follows:
"Par. 1(a) Sick Leave During Probationary Period:
Sick leave may be taken with pay during probation-
ary period, but only in such amount as an employee
would earn if on permanent status; however, should
the employee not achieve permanent status, all paid
sick leave must be reimbursed to the City at the
time of termination of employment. In the event
no sick leave is taken during the probationary
period, a credit of six days leave will be granted
at the time the employee attains permanent status."
SECTION 2. After recommendation to the City Council by
the Personnel Board of the City of Azusa, Paragraphs 3, 4, and 5
are hereby added to Section 93 of the Personnel Rules and Regu-
lations as adopted by Resolution No. 3914, to read respectively
as follows:
"Par. 3 To Other Department: A current employee,
appointed rom an eligiblilty list to a higher
classification in another department which involves
a change from the jurisdiction of one supervising
official to another, shall retain his seniority in-
sofar as vacation and sick leave is concerned. He
shall, by virtue of his service with the City, be
placed on the step of the salary range for the higher
classification which will grant a minimum of 5% in-
crease in pay.
"Par. 4 Probationary Period Following Promotion:
An employee, who has been appointed to another or
higher classification, shall begin a probationary
period of six months upon assuming the new position,
regardless of the time spent in the original posi-
tion, in conformance with Section 78.
"Par. 5 Release Following Promotion or Transfer:
Any employee release uring the probationary
period following a promotional appointment, or
transfer, shall be reinstated to the position
from which he was promoted or transferred PRO-
VIDED THERE IS A VACANCY, unless charges are
filed and he is discharged in the manner pro-
vided in the Personnel Ordinance and these Rules
and Regulations for positions in the classified
service."
and Section 82 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations, entitled
"Release Following Promotion or Transfer", is hereby deleted; and
"Par. 1" immediately following said Section 82, entitled "Residency
Requirements for Fire Department",' shall be renumbered "Section 82"

SECTION 3. After recommendation to the City Council by
the Personnel Board of the City of Azusa, Paragraphs 3 and 4 are
hereby added to Section 96 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations
as adopted by Resolution No. 3914, to read respectively as fol-
lows:
"Par. 3 Vacation Uon Reinstatement: An employee,
upon reins a emen to is ormer position within one
year after resignation, shall be credited with pre-
vious service for computation of vacation purposes.
"Par. 4 Probationary Period After Reinstatement:
An employee, upon being reinstated, s al serve a
probationary period of six months and be subject
to termination upon unsatisfactory service during
this period. The employee shall not be eligible
for vacation benefits until he achieves permanent
status, at which time he shall be eligible for
earned leave in accordance with the provisions
contained within Section 85 relating to vacations.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
