A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 RELAT-
ING TO THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION, COMPENSA-
TION AND CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES OF THE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND AMENDING EXHIBIT
"A" ATTACHED THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached to
Resolution No. 46930 adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, re-
lating to the Public Works Department, is hereby amended by
the addition thereto of the following:
"l Equipment Supervisor Range 25"
SECTION 2. The classification schedules attached
to Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964s as amended
are hereby amended by adding thereto the classification
schedule for Equipment Supervisor, which is attached hereto
and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.

EQUIPMENT SUPERVISOR
Job Summary
Under Administrative direction, operate a garage as a working
supervisor for the servicing, maintenance and storage of light
and heavy automotive, maintenance and fire prevention'equip-
ment; directs major and minor mechanical body and framework
repairs on light and heavy equipment; and does related work
as required.
Representative Duties
Plans and makes out work schedules and assignments for all
employees of the Central Garage engaged in servicing and re-
pairing automotive and heavy equipment; determines priorities
of work to be done; inspects and reviews work in progress and
upon completion; requisitions and purchases tools and materials
for equipment; in cooperation with operating departments, recom-
mends the purchase of new equipment; recommends whether automotive
or construction equipment should be repaired or replaced; inspects,
diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in automobiles, trucks
and other heavy equipment used in road, park, fire, police and
utility maintenance work; may participate in disassembling engines
and other mechanical equipment and performing general overhaul
repairs; designs new parts or assemblies for equipment which will
better adapt it for the City's use; keeps records of repairs made,
orders and time worked; makes emergency repairs out of the shop;
supervises the work of equipment mechanics and helpers; prepares
the division budget estimates; maintains a small inventory of small
standard parts; may do occasional automotive body and fender repair
work; continues to keep abreast of new material, methods and pro-
ducts.
Organizational Relationships
Equipment Supervisor is a one position supervisory level in the
Public Works Department. An employee in this class reports dir-
ectly to the Director of Public Works and supervises the activities
of all employees within the Central Garage, and advises the depart-
ment heads who have equipment needing repair or adjustment.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
• J-15
Minimum requirements: graduation from high school or trade
school with a major in auto mechanics; and five years of
journeyman automotive repair experience.
Knowledge and Abilities
A thorough knowledge of the construction of automotive and
other mechanical equipment, repair and maintenance; the know-
ledge to plan and carry out efficient and economic repairs to
such equipment; knowledge of the theory, care and operation of
internal combustion engines; knowledge of shop records and parts
supplies; knowledge of principles of supervision„ organization
and training; knowledge of administration, budgeting and stock
control; ability to'follow oral and written directions; ability
to do work requiring physical strength; ability to maintain
good relationships with superiors, subordinates and the public;
ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate
maintenance and repair work; ability to prepare reports.
Skills
Skill in operating various types of power tools such as lathes,
drill presses, valve grinding machines, brake relining machines
and portable drills; skill in gas and arc welding in three
positions.
Licenses
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the
State of California.
