RESOLUTION NO. 5627
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4693 RELAT-
ING TO THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION, COMPENSA-
TION AND CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES OF THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR AND AMENDING EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED
THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1. That portion of Exhibit "A!' attached to
Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, re-
lating to the City Admin: is hereby amended by the addition
thereto of the following:
"1 Secretary to the City Administrator Range 16"
SECTION 2. The classification schedules attached to
Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended are
hereby amended by adding thereto the classification schedule
for Secretary to the City Administrator, which is attached
hereto and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. That portion of Exhibit "A" attached to
Resolution No. 4693, adopted July 20, 1964, as amended, relat-
ing to the City Administrator, is hereby amended by the dele-
tion therefrom of the following:
"1 Secretary -Stenographer Range 13"
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
Adopted and approved this 15th day of September, 1969.

Under direction, to perform difficult and responsible secretarial
duties which may involve confidential information; makes arrange-
ments.:and provides materials for -Council members, the City
Administrator and Department.Heads; obtains information from
sources within and outside the department; performs responsible
public contact work; does other related work as required,
Representative Duties
Relieves the City Administrator of as many details as possible,
segregating important matters for his consideration;-afranges for
conferences; interviews callers, exercising considerable_indepen-
dent judgment and applying experience in making decisions and -pro-
viding -information in accordance with. -established policies and
proceduret; performs a variety=of;clericai duties; takes.and.refers
telephone calls; maintains.,office records.
.:.On assignment; assembles information and prepares reports -for the
City Administrator, usually statistical or factual in.nature,; pro-
vides a basic'office assistance inrcompiling information for budget
formulation. Takes and•transcribes .important -and exacting: dictation;
types from rough draft and printed or typewritten matter, using
independent judgment in segregating items,.and arranging, formats;
composes routine correspondence.
Operates mailing and Zerox machines, keeping a record and:charging
cost of Zerox copies against all departments, and recording and
charging postage used by departments; prepares and submits a monthly
charge sheet.
Organizational Relationships
Secretary to the City Administrator is a one -position class in the
office of the City Administrator. An employee in this class may
supervise part-time help in this department.

QUAtIFICATIONS:6UIDE
Traininq and Experience
Minimum Requirements; Equivalent to graduation from high school,
Including or supplemented by courses in business practices, typing
and stenography. Five years of recent progressively responsible
clerical and secretarial experience, involving some experience as
a private secretary to an administrative official preferably in a
municipal agency.
Knowledge and Abilities
High degree of excellence in meeting the public and in maintaining
satisfactory relationships with other employees.
Thorough knowledge of office practices, procedures, and appliances,
and knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.
Working knowledge of the.elementary principles of public and busi-
ness administration and of standard record maintenance procedure.
Skill in taking and transcribing dictation; skill in typing rapidly
and accurately.
Ability to employ good Judgment and.make decisions in the light of
established precedence and departmental policy and resourcefulness
in meeting new problems.
Ability to make a variety of arithmetical computations and tabu-
lations with speed and accuracy.
Knowledge of Business English, spelling, letter writing, clear and
concise written and spoken expression.
Skills
Ability to take dictation at 110 words per minute, and transcribe
it at 35 words per minute; to type 60 words per minute.
