HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5601RESOLUTION NO. 56ol A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN, INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "NORTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO.67. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings have been initiated by the City Council of the City of Azusa, on its own motion, to annex to the City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situated in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated as "Northerly Annexation District No. 67", and described as follows: That portion of the east 1/2 of the northeast 1/4 of Section 27, and that portion of the west 1/2 of the northwest 1/4 of Section 26, and that portion of the southeast 1/4 of the southeast 1/4 of Section 22, Township 1 North, Range 10 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian, as recorded in the United States Government District Land Office, and that portion of Rancho Azusa finally confirmed to Henry Dalton as recorded in Book 2 on Page 106 and 107 of Patents in the office of the County Recorder located in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, described as follows: Beginning at the northwest corner of said Section 26; thence S 890 �9; 13" E along the northerly line of said Section 26 a distance of 120.01 feet to the northwest corner of Tract No. 26356 as shown on map filed in Book 677, Pages 98, 99, and 100 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said county (said corner also being an angle point in the boundary of the City of Azusa as it existed on November 9, 1967); thence South along said boundary 1022.75 feet to the most westerly southwest corner of Tract No. 26013 as shown on map filed in Book 673, Pages 31, 32, and 33 of said Maps; thence along the southerly boundaryy of said Tract No. 26013, N 890 19' 56" E �6.10 feet, S 380 46' 04" E 109.03 feet, N 670 131 56" E 69.53 feet, N 00 00' 56" E 5 .63 feet, N 89019 56" E 341.56 feet, S 420 54' 16" E 213.86 feet, and S 00 00' 56" W 202.00 feet (said southerly boundary also being said boundary of the City of Azusa); thence leaving said southerly boundary of Tract No. 26013, and along said bound- ary of the City of Azusa, S 890 19' 56" W 725.61 feet, North 304.68 feet, S 890 11' 06" W. 259.72 feet, N 00 23' 42" E 180.00 feet, N 290 20' 52" W 94.00 feet, 0 0 N 31° 14152" E 201.36 feet, North 196.12 feet, East 200.00 feet, North 275.00 feet West 100.00 feet, S 640 57' 17" W 343.48 feet and S 860 07' 26" W 4o.00 feet to the westerly line of Azusa & San Gabriel Canyon Road, 40 feet wide, as shown on map recorded in Book 7028 Page 337 of Deeds, in the office of said County Recorder; thence leaving said exist- ing City Boundary, northerly along said westerly line to the westerly prolongation of the northerly line of that certain parcel of land described in deed to Joe Z. Vasquez, et ux recorded in Book D213, page 67 of Official Records, in the office of said County Recorder; thence leaving said westerly line of Azusa & San Gabriel Canyon Road, along said westerly prolongation and northerly line S 80° 51' 10" E 399.33 feet to the easterly line of said Section 22; thence S 0° 161 33" W along said easterly line 393.45 feet.to the point of beginning. 2. That the City Council of the City of Azusa desires to annex said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, is uninhabited, and its proposed annexation will contri- bute to and facilitate the orderly growth and development of both the City and the Territory proposed to be annexed. 3. That the Local Agency Formation Commission of Los Angeles County, California, did in session duly assembled on July 9, 1969 approve the proposed annexation as submitted to said Commission by the City Council of the City of Azusa with certain revisions reflected herein. 4. That Tuesday, September 2, 1969, at the hour of 8:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber in the Azusa Auditorium located in the Civic Center at 213 East Foothill Boulevard, in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where the City Council will hear protests made by any person owning real property within the 'uninhabited territory above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa. Such protests must be in writing, may be filed at any time before the final adjournment of the hearing on protests to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners of property affected, and the street address or other des- cription of the property sufficient to identify it on the last equalized assessment roll. 5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the afore- said territory, and also 1n the Pasadena Star News, a newspaper of general circulation published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be complete at least twenty days prior to the date set for hearing. - 2 - 6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date the above proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with the Clerk, such notice to be given not less than twenty days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation. 7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in the manner required by law. 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
