Present at roll call: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of March 4, 1935, were read and approved as read. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Carr that Councilman Harry S. Chester represent the City of Azusa on the Committee of the Los Angeles County League of Municipalities. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from Dean Olson of the University of Southern California was read. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be instructed to mail the names of the five members of the City Council as a Committee representing the City of Azusa to cooperate with the Civic Affairs Council of the School of Government University of South- ern California. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. The monthly report of the Los Angeles County Health Department was presented and ordered placed on file. A communication from John Wesley Grande expressing his appreciation for permission to erect official emblems on lighting standards, was read. Moved and carried that same be placed on file. Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by Councilman Arnold that the Mayor and City Clerk be instructed and authorized to sign contracts for the supply of gasoline, between -the City of Azusa and the Texas Company, Union 011 Company, Shell'Oil Company and Standard 011 Company. Carried by the following vote of the ' Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Chester offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIF- ORNIA, RELATING TO THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCT- ION OF A HIGH TENSION ELECTRIC POWER LINE NEAR SAID CITY BY THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND POWER OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND RELATING TO LEGAL ACTION TO BE TAKEN ON THE PART OF SAID CITY OF AZUSA ON ACCOUNT THEREOF. Minutes. Councilman Chester appointed director for Los Angeles County League of Municipalities. City Clerk instructed to send names of five councilmen to University of Southern California. Report of the Los Angeles County Health Department ordered placed on file. Communication filed. Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign con- tracts with four Cil Companies. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be adopted as read, and numbered Resolution Number 1447. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. City Attorney Healy rendered an opinion relating to the City of Azusa's obligation in'.turning over to Mrs. Violet Gauldin a collection of guns, daggers, Etc. now in the'possession of the City. Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by Councilman McIntire that the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to turn over to Mrs. Gauldin the English pistol belong- ing to the late C. E. Gauldin. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None: Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman -McIntire that the City Attorney be and he is hereby authorized and Qirect- ed to take such legal action as may be necessary, or as he may dean advisable, to collect from Clifford 0. Fielder the license fee of $120.00 provided by Ord- inance Number 310 and the sum of $100.00 attorneys fees and damages provided by Ordinance Number 315. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that the City Clerk -be authorized and directed to draw a warrant on the General Fund in favor of Irene B. Barnes, Collector of Water and Light, in the amount of $50.00 to pay light, water, gas and incidental bills incurred by the SERA Sewing Project. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that the following recuisitions be allowed. ' 1181-1182-1200-1201. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Carr that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None...
