HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 56830 0 RESOLUTION NO. 5683 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO EXPEDITE THE WIDENING OF THE SAN BERNARDINO FREEWAY WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA. WHEREAS, the last segment of the San Bernardino Freeway proposed for widening to four lanes in each direction between the Los Angeles Civic Center and the City of San Bernardino is the segment through the City of West Covina, and WHEREAS, this segment is now frequently over- loaded and constitutes a bottleneck for through traffic. Completion in the near future of the widening of other segments of the freeway will further aggravate the traffic problem, and WHEREAS, the completion of this segment of the freeway as quickly as possible will not only serve the citi- zens of West Covina using the freeway, but will also facili- tate the movement of through traffic, NOW IT THEREFORE BE RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of West Covina that: (a) The California Highway Commission is hereby urged to provide funding for freeway improvements on the San Ber- nardino Freeway through the City of West Covina in the 1971-72 Fiscal Year rather than the 1972-73 Fiscal Year. (b') Construction contracts for the improve- ment be awarded as soon as possible after the funding is provided. The City Clerk is instructed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the California Highway Commission. Adopted and approved this 2nd day of February , 1970.
