RESOLUTION NO. 5799
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING THE PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS
AS ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 3914 RELATING TO STEP
RAISES.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. After recommendation to the City Council by
the Personnel Board of the City of Azusa, paragraphs 4 and 6 of Section
47 of Rule VI of the Personnel Rules and Regulations, as adopted by
Resolution No. 3914, as amended, are hereby, respectively, amended to
read:
"Par. 4 Step Raises After Promotion: When promoted, an employee
is entitloo be paid theminimum-rate of the appropriate pay
range or a minimum of one pay step higher than his current salary.
He will thereafter be eligible for step raises in accordance
with the provisions of Section 47, par. 1. For step raise
purposes, a promoted employee's anniversary date shall be the
effective date of such promotion. City Council may approve a
higher rate of compensation at any step within the range,
(a) If it shall find that the person promoted thereto is
reasonably entitled because of his experience or
ability to a rate in any one of the steps above the
minimum or
(b) That it is impracticable to obtain qualified appointees
at an established minimum rate.
Par. 6 Acting temporarily in higher classification or position:
Any employee in any class, rank or position, acting temporarily
in a higher classification, rank or position for the full working
time of a period of more than thirty-one consecutive calendar
days, shall, during the entire period in which such employee is
acting in the higher classification, rank or position, receive an
appropriate salary equal to one step higher than his current
salary. Otherwise, he shall receive no additional compensation
while acting temporarily in a higher classification, rank or
position, provided, however, that a person shall not continue to
act in a higher position which is still occupied by a person
temporarily absent or on leave, while retaining his existing
classification for more than 90 days unless and to the extent that
the City Council may authorize it for good cause shown."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
