A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING THE AZUSA YOUTH
PROGRAM AND ITS MEMBERS THROUGH THE YEARS
FOR OUTSTANDING ACTIVITIES ON BEHALF OF
THE YOUTH OF THE COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, the Azusa Youth Program, familiarly
known through the years as the A.Y.P., is a volunteer group
of local citizens whose labors for the community are rewarded
only by their sense of a service rendered; and
WHEREAS, the A.Y.P. has a record of more than
a quarter of a century of unceasing activity for the good of
our young people of all ages; and
WHEREAS, in its early years the A.Y.P., drawing
solely upon the good will of the people of Azusa for support,
created and managed a summer recreation program for our young
people with conspicuous success; and
WHEREAS, following the establishment of an
official Recreation Department by the City of Azusa in 1950,
the A.Y.P. has continued to function as a separate volunteer
agency, working in close harmony with the City's Recreation
Department; and
WHEREAS, in the last twenty years the A.Y.P. has
consistently contributed valuable services designed to assist
the Recreation Department, which services otherwise would be
unavailable to the youth of our community, with little public
recognition;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council of the City of Azusa, on behalf of the people of the
entire community, hereby tenders its well merited appreciation
for the services rendered by the good citizens now serving
as officers and members of the Azusa Youth Program; an
appreciation which is also extended to all of those who have
similarly served in past years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk
shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall
transmit a certified copy thereof to the Azusa Youth Program.
Adopted and approved this 3rd day of August,
