HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5770RESOLUTION NO. 5770 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING THE AZUSA YOUTH PROGRAM AND ITS MEMBERS THROUGH THE YEARS FOR OUTSTANDING ACTIVITIES ON BEHALF OF THE YOUTH OF THE COMMUNITY. WHEREAS, the Azusa Youth Program, familiarly known through the years as the A.Y.P., is a volunteer group of local citizens whose labors for the community are rewarded only by their sense of a service rendered; and WHEREAS, the A.Y.P. has a record of more than a quarter of a century of unceasing activity for the good of our young people of all ages; and WHEREAS, in its early years the A.Y.P., drawing solely upon the good will of the people of Azusa for support, created and managed a summer recreation program for our young people with conspicuous success; and WHEREAS, following the establishment of an official Recreation Department by the City of Azusa in 1950, the A.Y.P. has continued to function as a separate volunteer agency, working in close harmony with the City's Recreation Department; and WHEREAS, in the last twenty years the A.Y.P. has consistently contributed valuable services designed to assist the Recreation Department, which services otherwise would be unavailable to the youth of our community, with little public recognition; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa, on behalf of the people of the entire community, hereby tenders its well merited appreciation for the services rendered by the good citizens now serving as officers and members of the Azusa Youth Program; an appreciation which is also extended to all of those who have similarly served in past years. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall transmit a certified copy thereof to the Azusa Youth Program. Adopted and approved this 3rd day of August, 1970.
