HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 57331 RESOLUTION NO. 5733 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA IN MEMORY OF GEORGE W. ADAMS The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, after a lifetime of useful and unselfish service to his fellowman, George W. Adams, an esteemed citizen of Azusa and a loyal servant of this City, passed away suddenly on May 14, 1970; and WHEREAS, following service to his country in the armed forces during World War II, George W. Adams became a valued member of this Azusa community, and in 1946 entered the service of this City's Utilities Department; and WHEREAS, for almost 24 years he labored for the City of Azusa capably and with complete fidelity, making his every working day an exercise in good humor and helpfulness; and WHEREAS, he augmented his usefulness to the community in various voluntary activities through his affiliation with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was a Past Commander, and through other channels, especially concerning himself with pro- jects affecting the welfare of youth, notably his Little League work; and WHEREAS, George W. Adam's day-by-day life all the years he was with us, whether at work or play, was characterized by a never -failing spirit of good will, lightening the load of all who knew him with the good cheer which was an essential part of his generous nature; NOW, THEREFORE, this City Council of the City of Azusa, California, hereby gives expression to the grief felt by all of our people over the loss to us of George W. Adams, whose unique contribution to the happiness of his associates we belatedly salute, with the assurance that we shall keep his friendly spirit warm in our memories, and the hope that that spirit remains close to our hearts through the years to come. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 1st day of June, 1970.
