Present at roll call: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden, City Clerk. Absent: City Attorney. The minutes of the last regular meeting ' of June 17, 1935 were read and approved as read. Councilman Chester offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE RESOLUTION NO. 1454 CITY OF AZUSA AUTHORIZING AND EMPOWERING ADOPTED. THE CITY ENGINEER OF SAID CITY TO SIGN AND FILE AN -APPLICATION TO THE STATE EMERGENCY RELIEF ADMINISTRATION FOR A PROJECT TO BE KNOWN AS "SEWAGE DISPOSAL PLANT IN THE CITY OF AZUSA". Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Carr that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1454. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from C. H. Burnett ' relating to the refund on tax paid on building occupied by the Southern Counties Gas Company was offered. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold and duly carried that same be referred to the City Attorney. Communication referred to the City Attorney. Frank D. Healy -offered his resignation as Frank D. Healy's City Attorney. resignation.accepted. Moved by Councilman Arnold,seconded`by Councilman Carr andkduly carried that Mr.'Healy's resignation be accepted and placed on file. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Carr and duly carried that the City Clerk instructed to City Clerk be instructed to write Mr. Healy write Mr. Healy. expressing the Council's regret and sincere appreciation for his splendid cooperation and assistance during his term of office. A communication from Dr. Pomeroy request- ing the Council's cooperation in securing Communication read and the Gove_rnor's signature on Bill #542, was referred to the City Clerk. ' read. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Carr that the'City Clerk be instructed to urge Governor Merriam to sign this bill. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Carr that the easement be re- ferred to -the City Engineer to report back at the next regular meeting. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. "Absent: Norte. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that Owens-Vosburg Insurance Agency be instructed to re -write Insurance Policy on Fleet and Non -Ownership. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mayor Morden appointed the following to serve on the Azusa Public Library Board, their term to expire June 30, 1938. Mrs. Lydia Jester - Mrs. Dorothy Chester. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Carr that the above appointments be approved. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. The matter of erecting a Neon Sign at the corner of Holt and Azusa Avenues was dis- cussed. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that same be referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole together with Superintendent Jack Pierce. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Carr offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, IN THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING A CITY ATTORNEY AND FIXING HIS COMPENSATION. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1455. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Miller being present, took the oath office and was seated at the Council table. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold and duly carried that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the disposal of;Garbage. Mr. Fielder presented a written application for a business license of $12.00 per annum 203.-. Owens-Vosburg Insuranc Agency to re -write policy. Mayor Morden appoint- ed Mrs. Chester and Mrs. Jester to serve on"Library Board. Matter of Neon Sign referred to the City Council as a Committee of the Whole. RESOLUTION NO. 1455 ADOPTED. City Clerk instructed to advertise for bids for the removal of Garbage. Mr. Fielder filed application for Business License. 204 20N MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING. JULY 1, 1935. 7:30 P. M. to sell bakery goods from his home in Azusa. Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman Arnold that same be referred to the City Attorney. Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by Requisitions Councilman Arnold that the following allowed. requisitions be allowed: 1262-1263=1264-1265-1266-1268-1269-1270- 1271-1272-1273-1274. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by -Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Carr that the following bills be allowed and warm-nts-ordered drawn upon Bills. the Treasury for the same.
