A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA GRANTING A VARIANCE. (Variance Case V-268 -
Melvin Hensley)
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. An application for a variance permitting
additional sign area on the building on property located at 103 South
Azusa Avenue, having been duly heard by the Planning Commission after
proper notice, and the Planning Commission having denied the said
variance and the applicant having appealed from the denial to the
City Council, the City Council, after due notice and public hearing,
finds that sufficient facts exist to justify the granting of the
variance subject to the conditions hereinafter specified.
1. The strict application of the zoning ordinance to the
property in question would result in practical difficulties and un-
necessary hardships in so far as the property owner is concerned.
2. There are special circumstances applicable to the
property which do not apply generally to other property in the same
zone in that the side of the building faces the freeway.
3. The granting of the variance will not be materially
detrimental to the public welfare and is not contrary to the objectives
of any part of the Master Plan.
SECTION 2. Variance Application No. V-268 (Melvin Hensley)
permitting additional sign area on the building on property located at
103 South Azusa Avenue, is granted subject to the following conditions:
1. That the total sign area on the building shall not
exceed 290 square feet.
2. The permitted sign area on the building shall revert
to 150 square feet one year from the date of this resolution.
SECTION 3. The variance hereby granted shall become
void and ineffective for any purpose unless it is utilized within 6
months after the effective date of this resolution and the conditions
thereof fully complied with.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
Adopted and approved this 2nd day of August , 1971.
