CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. SEPTEMBER 16, 1935. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above time
and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, City Roll call
Attorney and City Clerk.
Absent: Mayor Morden.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Chester to
' Councilman Carr that Councilman Chester act as Mayor Pro tem
preside during the absence of Mayor Morden.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold.
Noes: None.
Absent: Mayor Morden.
Councilman Chester not voting.
The minutes of the regular meeting of
September 3 and the Special Meeting of Minutes read
September 7th and the adjourned Special
Session of September 10, 1935 were read
and approved as read.
The monthly report of the Los Angeles Monthly report of the
County Health Department was presented Los Angeles County
and ordered placed on file. Health Department
ordered placed on file.
A communication from the Los Angeles
County Board of Supervisors requesting
information relating to Special elections
was read.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by City Clerk instructed
Councilman Carr and duly carried that the to write Clerk of the
City Clerk be instructed to write the Board of Supervisors.

SEPTEMBER 16, 1935. 7:30 P.M.
Moved by Uouncilman Carr, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
instructed to cancel delinquent tax in the
amount of $$13.20 assessed against Lot 66,
Tract 7625 in the year 1932 due to the
fact that this property was in the possession
of the State of California Veterans welfare
Board at the time the assessment was levied.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold,
Chester.
Noes: None.
Absent: Mayor Morden.
The report, of the Committee consisting of
the owners of property on Foothill Boulevard
adjacent to the Santa Fe crossing in the
City of Azusa, protesting the construction
of an under -pass at the intersection of
Foothill Boulevard and the Santa Fe Crossing
was introduced.
Moved by 'jouncilman Carr, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that same be accepted and
placed on file.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester.
Noes: None.
Absent: Mayor Morden.
Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Council
refuse to participate in the construction
of said under -pass, on behalf of said City.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester.
Noes: None.
Absent: Mayor Morden.
Councilman Chester reported that the City
of Azusa is not interested in the
Communication from the Board of Supervisors
on Street Improvement in as much as they
refer to "A" and "I" Districts only.
The matter of the Born and Whalen license
to operate a restaurant at #741 Azusa
Avenue was taken up. The Mayor being ill
and unable to attend this meeting, Mr.
Born consented and agreed that the matter
be postponed and taken up again at a
regular adjourned meeting of the Council
on Wednesday, September 18, 1935, at 7:30
P.M. and, that if at that time, the Mayor
is not sufficently recovered to be able to
be out, the meeting be adjourned and
cbntinued, pending the recovery of the
Mayor.
Mr. Beck, who is in charge of the registration
of the unemployed, addressed the City Council
regarding employment for Azusa unemployed.

ORNIA RELATING TO THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
OF A HIGH TENSION ELECTRIC POWER LINE NEAR
.SAID CITY BY THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND
POWER OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND RE-
LATING TO LEGAL ACTION TO BE TAKEN ON THE
PART OF SAID CITY OF AZUSA ON ACCOUNT

City Attorney Miller asked Mr. Born if he
wished to be heard in the matter of business
license #286 issued to Born & Whalen to
operate a restaurant at 739-41 Azusa Avenue.
He said he had nothing more to say.
Mr. O'Leary was requested to express him-
self in the matter.

RESOLUTION NO. 1447
RESCINDED.
Lee Rhodes,S. C. Bierbower, Walter Lovelace
and Paul Smith were sworn by the City Clerk
and gave their testimony. Mrs. Maddock
administered the oath for the City Clerk
whose testimony -was also given,, as per transcript.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Carr that in view of the
evidence taken and introduced before the
Council at this hearing and on the pre-
vious hearings of this matter on September
102 1935, and September 7, 1935, the City
of Azusa Business License NO. 286 issued
to Born & Whalen to operate a restaurant
at 739-741 Azusa Avenue in the City of
Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of
California, be revoked, set aside and
cancelled, and further that the effective
date of said revocation and cancellation be
Friday, midnight, September 20, 1935.

Arnold, Chester, Morden.

Absent: None.
Mrs. Pearl Johnson requested permission to
erect a gospel tent on the vacant lot just
north of the Boy Scout Hall.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that same be granted,
the,Council reserving the right to revoke
same without reason or cause.
