HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 63550 0 RESOLUTION NO. 6355 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA URGING CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES TO REENACT THE GENERAL REVENUE SHARING PROGRAM AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa has supppmrted, by resolution, the original enactment of General Revenue Sharing; and WHEREAS, General Revenue Sharing has proven to be an essential part of the funding of vital services at the local level; and WHEREAS, General Revenue Sharing has served as one of the best examples of a funding program that has been administered with the minimum of bureaucratic problems; and WHEREAS, General Revenue Sharing has fostered closer cooperation between federal and local levels of government; and WHEREAS, the local governments throughout the country are entering into the regular budget process and must have knowledge of what level of financial support they may expect from this source; and WHEREAS, the failure of Congress to reenact the General Revenue Sharing program at an early date will have a disastrous effect on the provision of services to citizens at the local level and on the general economy: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa does urge the Congress of the United States to reenact the General Revenue Sharing Program at the earliest possible date; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa urges the continued support of the President and his administration for this vital program; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that local governments throughout the region be urged to contact their legislators seeking their commitment for their support of the General Revenue Sharing measure; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be submitted to the United States Conference of Mayors, National League of Cities, National Association of County Officials, Congressional Representatives and local governments of our region. 1975• PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 1st day of December, Mayor I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meething thereof held on the 1st day of December, 1975, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Solem, Cruz, Arkison, Decker NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None ity Clerk
