HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6252RESOLUTION NO. 6252 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE PASSAGE OF PROPOSITION 17 ON THE NOVEMBER 5, 1974, BALLOT. WHEREAS, Proposition 17 is designed to block State and Federal plans to build New Melones Dam on the Stanislaus River, one of the best multi-purpose water storage projects ever conceived from an environmental standpoint. This project has been approved by Congress, the Legislature, the Governor, and the United States Supreme Court; and WHEREAS, this Project would provide substantial benefits in the areas of flood control, electric power generation, new water supplies, and recreation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, as follows: _ Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Azusa strongly opposes the passage of Proposition 17 on the November 5, 1974 Ballot which is designed to block construction of the New Melones Dam on the Stanislaus River. Section 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Azusa, is hereby instructed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the California Water Resources Association.
