CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. OCTOBER 21, 1935. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Roll call.
McIntire, Arnold, Chester, Morden,
and City Clerk.
Absent: Councilman Carr and City
Attorney.
The minutes of the last regular meet-
ing of October 7 and the Special
Session of October 9, 1935 were read
and approved as read.
Lee Rhodes requested a two weeks vacation,
beginning November 1, 1935.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that same be granted
with pay.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Arnold,
Chester, Morden.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Carr.
Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS
(700.00) FROM THE WATER RESERVE FUND TO THE
WATER WORKS BOND FUND, 19010 TRANSFERRING
' FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS (475.00)
FROM THE WATER RESERVE FUND TO THE WATER WORKS
IMPROVEMENT FUND, 1906, TRANSFERRING ONE
THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($10900.00)
FROM THE WATER RESERVE FUND TO MUNICIPAL WATER
SYSTEM FUND, 1914, TRANSFERRING ONE THOUSAND
ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS ($1, 150.00)
FROM THE LIGHT RESERVE FUND TO THE ELECTRIC
SYSTEM FUND.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be
adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.
1471.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Arnold,
Chester, Morden.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Carr.
The Clerk announced that she had received
two sealed bids for the renewal of fire
insurance policy on the fleet.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that the bids be now
opened, examined and publicly declared.
J. C. Muehe - $24.85
Owens-Vosburg Insurance Agency - $39.03
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
authorized to instruct Mr. Muehe to renew
the fire insurance policy on the fleet and
to add a theft coverage.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Minutes approved.
Lee Rhodes granted two
weeks vacation with pay.

to instruct Mr. Muehe
to renew fire insurance

Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
authorized and instructed to draw a warrant
in favor of the Azusa Chamber of Commerce
in the amount of $25.00 for advertising
purposes.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:

Chester, Morden. ,
Noes: None.
Absent:' Councilman Carr.
Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that Jack Pierce be
allowed expenses if and when he attends the
Water Works Convention to be held at San
Diego.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Arnold,
Chester, Morden.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Carr.
Dr. Brooks addressed the City Council
relative to an under pass, where the Santa
Fe Railroad crosses Foothill Boulevard.
He requested the City Council's cooperation
in securing the under pass to prevent the
Boulevard being changed to Fifth Street.
Mr. Dilley and others addressed the Council
expressing themselves in favor of the under
pass on Foothill Boulevard.
Mayor Morden appointed the following
committee to meet with Mr. S. V. Cortelyou,
to discuss this matter: H. S. Chester,
Chairman, R. C. Arnold, Chas. Carr, Dr.
Brooks, Ed Raab, Fred Kraft, E. E. Dilley,
John Hibsch, Howard Chenoweth, Wm. J.
Holden and a representative from the Pacific
Electric Railway Company.
Mr. Dilley requested permission to cut the
curb in front of his place of business on
Foothill Boulevard. The Street Superintendent
stated that he could not grant permission as
he considered it hazardous.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that this matter be
referred to the City Council as a Committee
of the Whole.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Arnold,
Chester, Morden.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Carr.
Mr. Sweet addressed the City Council re-
questing said body to reconsider the
license requested by Angel Marques and
denied by the City Council. He said he
would be glad to offer tender and was
prepared to have Mr. Marques' friends
personally defend petitions already on
file in the Clerk's office.
No further action was taken.
