HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6200Y RESOLUTION NO. 6200 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO BE HELD ON THE 5TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 19740 WITH THE STATE-WIDE ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 1974, PURSUANT TO SECTION 23303 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE. WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Azusa has called a special municipal election in the City of Azusa to be held on November 5, 1974, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Azusa a proposition relating to the election of a Mayor and four Councilmen as hereinafter in this resolution set forth, and WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special municipal election be consolidated with the statewide election to be held on the same date and that within the City of Azusa the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles canvass the returns of the special municipal election and that said state-wide election and special municipal election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby resolve, determine and order, as follows: SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles be and it hereby is requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a special municipal election with the state-wide election on Tuesday, the 5th day of November, 1974, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Azusa the following prop- ositions to appear on the ballot as follows: PROPOSITION Shall the voters of the City of :YES Azusa elect a Mayor and four City Councilmen instead of electing five City Councilmen, one of whom is chosen by the members of the City Council to : NO act as Mayor as is now the practice? : PROPOSITION :YES • If Proposition is approved, shall the term of office of Mayor be two years? NO • PROPOSITION :YES , If Proposition is approved, shall the term o office of Mayor be four years? NO 9 0 SECTION 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said special municipal election which it is hereby requested to consolidate with said state-wide election and said election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot, shall be used. SECTION 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election. SECTION 4. The City of Azusa recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation an agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs. SECTION 5.
