CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. JANUARY 61 1936. 7:30 P:M.
The'City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Mor den,
City Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting
of December 20 were read and approved
as read.
An application to operate a billiard
parlor in Azusa was offered by Nervel
Reno.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that same be referred
to the Chief of Police to report back at
the next regular meeting of the City
Council:
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication from Dr. J. L. Pomeroy, M.D.
regarding the new contract between the
City of Azusa and the Los Angeles County
Health Department was read.
Moved by Councilman McIntire, seconded by
Councilman Carr that same be referred to
the City Attorney to report back at the
' next regular meeting.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication from the Azusa City Planning
Commission recommending that the property
lying West of Irwindale Avenue in Tract
8507 be zoned for Heavy Industrial instead
of Residence.
Mr. Allen, who wishes to establish an oil
refinery on the above mentioned site,
addressed the Council.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that this matter be
referred to the City Council as a Committee
of the Whole to report back at the next
regular meeting.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:

Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
instructed to renew the City Clerk's Bond
having same written by the American Surety
Company of New York and not by J. 0.
Durrell.

The matter of licensing bakeries, laundries,
etc. was discussed.
No action taken.
A petition requesting the City Council to
deny the request of the Four Square Gospel
Church to erect a church building at the
corner of Tenth Street and Sunset Avenue
in the City of Azusa, was presented.
' Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Carr that same be placed on
file.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA REQUESTING LOS ANGELES
COUNTY AND LOS ANGELES COUNTY FLOOD
CONTROL DISTRICT TO RESURFACE WITH
DURABLE PAVEMENT 10TH STREET ALL THE
WAY BETWEEN AZUSA AVENUE AND THE COUNTY
STORAGE YARD ON VERNON AVENUE IN THE
CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY,
CALIFORNIA.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that this Resolution
' be adopted as read and numbered Resolution
No. 1478.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
The Mayor announced that this is the time
objections.
After consideration of the matter by the
Council, it was moved by Councilman Carr,
seconded by Councilman McIntire that the
Planning Commission's recommendation be
granted.

Hearing of protests
on amendment of Zoning
Ordinance.
and place set for hearing protests and
taking final action upon the Report of
the Azusa City Planning Commission
recommending that the Zoning Ordinance
of the City of Azusa known as Ordinance
Number 294 be amended to show that the
property hereinafter described, be
classified and designated as property
constituting a Zone M-3, Heavy Industrial
District, as the same is described in
section 7 of Ordinance 294:
All of Lot 31 of Subdivision No. 2 Azusa
Land & Water Company; also the Westerly
1/2 of Lot 45 of Subdivision No. 2 Azusa
Land & Water Company, recorded in book
43, Page 94 of Miscellaneous Records of

Los Angeles County, California.
In response to a call for oral object-
ions or responses, there were no oral
objections or responses.
Therefore the Clerk announced that there
had been received or filed no written
objections.
After consideration of the matter by the
Council, it was moved by Councilman Carr,
seconded by Councilman McIntire that the
Planning Commission's recommendation be
granted.

entitled:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7 OF
' ORDINANCE NO.294 OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
ENTITIE D "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT IN THE CITY OF AZUSA,
CALIFORNIA, OF FOUR ZONES, CONSISTING OF
VARIOUS DISTRICTS AND PRESCRIBING THE
CLASSES OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND
IMPROVEMENTS IN SAID SEVERAL ZONES AND
THE USES THEREOF, AND PRESCRIBING THE
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS
THEREOF" ADOPTED AUGUST 3, 1931, AND BY
ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION TO BE
ENTITLED SECTION 7 - B.
to be placed upon its first reading.
This Ordinance was then read for the
first time.

Councilman Chester that the City Clerk
be instructed and authorized to ad-
vertise for bids for pipe described and
listed in notice.

Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Carr that the City Clerk be
authorized and instructed to advertise
for bids for 1600 sacks of Portland
cement.

Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Mr. Preston addressed the City Council,
requesting a list of names of residents
of Azusa.
This matter was referred to Councilman
Carr.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Chester that the Council
adjourn and enter executive session for
thirty minutes.
