RESOLUTION NO. 6502
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA APPOINTING CARL K. NEWTON AS CITY ATTORNEY,
PROVIDING FOR COMPENSATION AND RESCINDING RESOLU-
TION NO. 5774.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1. Resolution No. 5774 be and hereby is
rescinded effective February 22, 1977.
SECTION 2. That Carl K. Newton be, and is hereby,
appointed and retained as City Attorney of the City of
Azusa, effective February 22, 1977.
SECTION 3. The said apointee shall receive as
compensation a retainer of 900.00 per month, payable
monthly; provided, however, that for services rendered
by the City Attorney outside of the County of Los Angeles
and for services rendered in the preparation of municipal
bond issues, and for services rendered in actions in
court, appearances and hearings before administrative
boards, and in hearings before any of the commissions of
the State of California, or for any proceedings initiated
or undertaken under improvement acts, and for any special
and extraordinary services, the City Attorney shall be
paid, in addition to the foregoing retainer, such compen-
sation as shall be commensurate with the services rendered.
SECTION 4. That the City Attorney shall not be
deemed to be on regular duty, shall not be deemed to be
within the classified service of the City and said retainer
shall be deemed and considered as a professional retainer
fee, including his normal overhead expenses and stenographic
service.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
addption of this Resolution and shall deliver a certified
copy thereof to said Carl K. Newton.
Adopted and approved this 22nd day of February, 1977.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 22nd day of February, 1977, by
the following vote of Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Arkison, Solem
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: None
