HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6596RESOLUTION NO. 6596 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMEMORATING THE 186TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the first ten amendments to our United States Constitution have earned the respect and an identity of their own as the Bill of Rights; and WHEREAS, the 186th anniversary of the Bill of Rights will be observed Thursday, December 15, 1977; and WHEREAS, the Bill of Rights sets forth those rights so basic to our freedoms; and WHEREAS, the Bill of Rights Commemoration Committee, with Ross M. Blakely as chairman, is spear- heading this 37th observance of Bill of Rights Week and is cooperating with other groups in recognizing the importance of the Bill of Rights; and WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens renew their awareness of this significant document; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that by adoption of this Resolution, the City Council of the City of Azusa, hereby designates December 9 through December 15, 1977, as BILL OF RIGHTS WEEK calling on all citizens of the City of Azusa to join in a public commemoration, if possible, and to take the time to read or re -read these brief but all-important amendments. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 5th day of December, 1977. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 5th day of December, 1977, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Arkison, Solem NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None city Cleerr cc
