The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden,
City Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting
of February 17, 1936 were read and
approved as read.
Mrs. Demmitt's request for appointment
as an election officer was read.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold and duly carried that
the City Clerk be instructed to write
Mrs. Demmitt that all the appointments
were made before her letter was received
and had the Council knownshe wished the
appointment they would have been glad to
place her.
A communication, written by Cornelius
Smith, Secretary of the Azusa Chamber of
Commerce addressed to Chief Davis, was
read.
No action was taken.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Carr that the Mayor and City
Clerk be instructed and authorized to
sign a contract between the General
Electric Company and the City of Azusa.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded
Councilman Arnold that the matter of
repairing the Slauson Memorial Plunge
be referred to the City Council as a
Committee of the Whole to report back
the next regular meeting.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Marden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution

AND FIXING HER SALARY.

Councilman McIntire that this Resolution
be adopted as read and numbered Resolution
No. 1485.

AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO ASSOCIATED TELEPHONE COMPANY,
LTD., A CORPORATION, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, FOR
A PERIOD OF THIRTY-FIVE YEARS, THE RIGHT, PRIVILEGE
AND FRANCHISE, TO CONSTRUCT, OPERATE, ALTER, MAINTAIN
AND USE, CONDUCT AND CARRY ON A GENERAL TELEPHONE AND
TELEGRAPH BUSINESS, AND IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, AND FOR
THE PURPOSE THtREOF, TO CONSTRUCT, ERECT, INSTALL, MAIN-
TAIN AND OPERATE A SYSTEM AND PLANT FOR THETRANSMISSION OF
SOUND, SIGNALS, CONVERSATIONS AND INTELLIGENCE BY MEANS OF
ELECTRICITY, INCLUDING POLES AND/OR CONDUITS AND WIRES, IN
ALONG, OVER, AND UNDER THE STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC
' PLACES AS NOW EXISTING AND AS HEREAFTER ESTABLISHED IN THE
CITY OF AZUSA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

McIntire that this Ordinance be adopted as read and
numbered Ordinance No. 322.

Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Carr
that the Superintendent of Light and Water be authorized
and instructed to purchase either a Dodge or Plymouth
Pickup, for use in the Water Department, and to report
back at the next regular meeting of the City Council.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester,
Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman
McIntire that the Street Superintendent be authorized and
instructed to repair sidewalks on Dalton Avenue.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester,
Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None.
' Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman
.Carr that Duel & Ferris be granted permission to
operate a Pool Hall at 632 Azusa Avenue.
Carried by the.following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester,
Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Mr. Smith addressed the Council relative to the 24 foot
strip of land adjoining Lot 20 of Tract 7875 on the North.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by Councilman
Arnold that this matter be referred to the City Council
as a Committee of the Whole to act in conjunction with
the City Attorney and to report back at the next regular
meeting.
Carried by the -following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester,
Morden. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman
Carr thatsthe following requisitions be allowed:
