The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden,
City Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting
of March 16, 1936 were read and approved
as read.
Mr. Templeman submitted two bids for
paint to be used in painting the swimming
pool and lockers as follows:
7:30 P. M.
W. P. Fuller's Paints - Pure Prepaired in 5 gal.
@ $3.20 for lockers
25 or 30 gal. Gilsenite Aluminum @ $3.80
special paint for plunge
For extra cement Stucco, or rock painting
of Bonding cement powder paint - 12� lb.
To the City of Azusa - ll� lb. - $5.50
1 gal. of Bailed Oil for thinning paint,
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that Mr. Templeman
be awarded the contract to furnish the
paint for the pool and lockers.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
' Two bids were submitted by the Crown
Fence & Supply Company, Ltd., to furnish
a new fence for the swimming pool.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the bids be filed
for the time being.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication from the Azusa City
Planning Commission, recommending that
the City Council deny the request made
by Mr. McCauslin, to remove pepper trees
along Foothill Boulevard, was read.
Moved by Councilmal Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Carr that same be filed for
the present.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication addressed to Paul E.
Kressly regarding the Youth Administration,
was read and ordered placed on file.

Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman McIntire that the bid offered
by Mr. Koopman of the W. E. Hall Company
of $1.98 per 'ton , which includes Sales Tax,
for aspaltic concrete and $1.98 per ton,
including Sales Tax, for pre mix, mixed
according to State Specifications also
Paul E. Kressly's specifications, with
free delivery and return of roller, be -accepted.

A request for permission to sell
flowers for the Blind, was offered by the
American Brotherhood for the Blind.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Carr that the City Clerk be
instructed to write them giving them
permission to conduct a flower sale in
Azusa.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
' Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Chester offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA DETERMINING THAT THE
PUBLIC NECESSITY AND CONVENIENCE REQUIRE
THAT CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN SAID CITY BE
IMPROVED, AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF LOS ANGELRS COUNTY TO
APPROPRIATE FUNDS WITH WHICH TO IMPROVE
SAID STREETS.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that this request be
granted and use of the Auditorium offered
on April 27, 1936.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Archie Alvarado appeared before the Council
requesting the Improvement of Alsmeda
Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets.
The Mayor informed him that a Resolution
had just been adopted whereby the City of
Azusa made a request for an appropriation
from Los Angeles County, in order to do
this work.
' Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City Clerk be
instructed to request the Sign Department
of the Southern California Automobile Club
to replace the two "Stop" signs on 6th
Street and Azusa Avenue and to erect a
"No through Street" sign on Virginia
Avenue.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.

offered by the National Bureau for Religious
and Educational Films, was offered by
Reverand L. A. Lambert.
Moved by Councilman Chester, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that this request be
granted and use of the Auditorium offered
on April 27, 1936.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr,
Arnold, Chester, Morden.
Noes: None. Absent: None.

Mr. Millar addressed the Council relative
to the tree sugery needed for the oaks Mr. Millar addressed
north of the City Hall Building. the Council.
No action taken.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by
Councilman Chester that the following
requisitions be allowed: 1423-1424-
1425-1426-1427-1428-1429-1430-1431-
1432-1433-1434.
