M. 375, 5, The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of April 6, 1936 were read and approved as read. ' A communication from Supervisor Legg and one from Urban R. Ziegler, Mayor of Pomona, were read and ordered placed on file. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Carr that the following requisitions be allowed: 1435 -1436 -1437 -1438 -1439 -1440-1441-1442- 1443-1444-1445-1446-1447-1448-1449-1450- 1451 Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. M. 381 Councilman McIntire offered the following Resolution No. 1488 Resolution: Adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 1488 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DE- CLARING THE RESULT OF THE OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS OF THE VOTES OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE SAID CITY ON APRIL 14, 1936. The City Council of the City of Azusa does ' resolve as follows: WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Tuesday, the 14th day of April, 1936 as required by law; and WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and legally given and that there was one voting precinct established for holding said election, consisting of consolidation of regular City Precincts for holding State and County elections, as the same were established by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County on the 29th day of December, 1925, and now being on record in Book 87-A of the minutes of the said Board of Supervisors; that election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the returns thereof made and declared, in time, form and manner as required by the General Laws of the State of California governing elections in Cities of the fifth and sixth classes; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa met at the Council Chamber of said Council on Monday the ' 20th day of April, 1936, to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers, where- upon the said Council found that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the result of said election and other matter required by law, to be as here- inafter stated, NOW THEREFORE ---- IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND DECLARED AS FOLLOWS: That said regular Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, California, on Tuesday the 14th day of April, 1936, in time, form and manner as required by law; That there was one voting precinct established for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular election precincts established for holding general State and County elections as follows: That the whole number of votes cast in said City of Azusa at said election was 1132 and nine additional absentee ballots, making a total of 1141. Carr was elected to the office of Member the City Council of the City of Azusa, California, of for the full term of four (4) years. Also that Archie C. Morden was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California for the full term of four years (4). Also that Roy S. McIntire was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California for the short term of Two (2) years. Also that Mae A. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by her and duly authenticated; that she shall also impose the con- stitutional oath of office upon said persons so elected as Members of the City Council of said City, City Clerk, and City Treasurer and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in her office; thereupon, each and all of said persons so elected to said respective offices shall be inducted into said respective office to which they have been elected. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting held this 20th day of April, 1936, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: MCINTIRE, CARR, ARNOLD CHESTER, MORDEN. Moved by Councilman Carr, seconded by Councilman Arnold that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1488. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester, Morden. Noes: None. Absentt None. The City Clerk immediately took, subscribed and filed the constitutional oath of office, as required by law. The Council elect, Messrs. Archie C. Morden, Charles W. Carr and Roy S. McIntire then took, subscribed and filed the constitutional ' oath of office, as required by law. The Council thus constituted,took their seats and proceeded to organize. Councilman Arnold nominated Councilman Morden to the office of Mayor. This nomination was seconded by Councilman McIntire and carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: McIntire, Carr, Arnold, Chester. Noes: None. Absent: None.
