A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA SUPPORTING FEDERAL AGING PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, on October 18, 1978, Congress passed a series
of Amendments to the Older Americans Act which were so extensive
as to constitute almost a new Act; and
WHEREAS, the thrust of these new Amendments is to
mandate programs to assist our older Americans to remain in their
communities and avoid institutionalization, and
WHEREAS, the current finding under a continuing resolution
passed by Congress does not provide the necessary funds to carry
out Congressional mandates, and
WHEREAS, the City of Azusa is currently bound to appro-
priate over 40% in matching funds, as opposed to the 10% required,
to sustain their Senior Programs due to lack of federal funding;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Azusa goes on record as favoring an adequate federal
appropriation to take the place of the continuing resolution for
fiscal year 1979.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that adequate funding be made
available for the Older Americans Act in 1980.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 7th day of May 1979.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that.the foregoing resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular.meeting
thereof, held on the 7th day of May, 1979, by the following vote of
the Council:
