RESOLUTION NO. 6770
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE CIVIL SERVICE
RULES TO CONFORM WITH THE MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING REACHED WITH VARIOUS
EMPLOYEE GROUPS.
WHEREAS, the City Council referred to the
Personnel Board a proposed amendment to Civil Service
Rules to conform with the Memorandum of Understanding
reached with various employee groups; and
WHEREAS, notice was given to all employee
groups of an opportunity to appear and comment to the
Personnel Board relative to the proposed amendment to
the Civil Service Rules; and
WHEREAS, the Personnel Board conducted a
hearing relative to the proposed amendments and thereafter
recommended that the amendments to the Civil Service
Rules be adopted.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Civil Service Rules of the
City of Azusa are hereby amended by adding and deleting
thereto as follows:
Section 21.05e(1)(a)(b) and (2) relating
to Holidays is hereby deleted. Good Friday
is deleted as a holiday. The State of
California deleted Good Friday in 1975
due to a lawsuit.
Section 6.04(h) relating to Salary on
Temporary Assignment in a Higher Position
is hereby amended as follows:
An employee, when temporarily assigned by
the Department Head and approved by the
City Administrator, to a position in a
higher class for a period of more than
ten (10) consecutive working days, shall
receive a salary step increase equal to
five percent (58) higher than his/her
current salary step, effective on the date
of assignment. An employee shall not
continue acting in a higher classification
which is still occupied by a person on
leave, while retaining his/her existing
classification, for more than 90 calendar
days, except on authorization by the City
Council on a case -by case basis.
Section 23.02 relating to Education Reimbursement
is hereby amended as follows:
The cost of job-related training courses,
including tuition, registration, and
other incidental costs shall be paid by the
City upon successful completion of the course
by any permanent City employee, in an amount
0 0
not to exceed $200.00 per calendar
year. Reimbursement is subject to
prior department head approval on
courses as being job related and final
City Council approval.
Section 21.02(d)(1) relating to Payment
for Accumulated Sick Leave is hereby
amended as follows:
An employee shall be entitled to payment
of his/her current rate of salary upon
death or retirement for fifty percent
(508) of accumulated sick leave
provided:
(a) In case of retirement for disability
arising out of and in the course of his/her
employment, the employee shall have been
employed by the City for at least five years.
(b) In case of voluntary retirement
for any other cause, such employee shall
have been employed by the City for at
least ten years.
(c) In case of death, the employee had
attained permanent status.
SECTION 2. This Resolution and the amendments to
the Civil Service Rules designated herein are effective
upon adoption of this Resolution.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution. -

at a regular meeting thereof held on the 19 day of March ,
