HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 67540 RESOLUTION NO. 6754 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL. OF THE CITY OF AZUSA COMMENDING THE BENEVOLENT AND PROTECTIVE ORDER OF ELKS. WHEREAS, over the years, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has undertaken as a mission the protection and preservation of the American way of life, and WHEREAS, these activities have caused all citizens to remember the debt we owe to our forefathers when they assembled to construct a nation out of wilderness, and WHEREAS, in remembering this debt we participate in the continuing preservation of our traditions and values, and WHEREAS, San Gabriel Valley District Elks Lodges are Planning a Flag Disposal Ceremony at 10:00 A.M. March 24, 1979, at Palomares Park, 499 E. Arrow Highway, Pomona, and WHEREAS, this ceremony, solemn and richly traditional, is not solely concerned with complying with the law which requires that the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning, but also gives us an opportunity to share in the pageantry that envelopes us all in this nation. NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Azusa, calls upon all to observe the ceremony, to remember our national values, and unites in its efforts to sustain the customs and greatness of our Nation. Adopted and approved this 20th day of February, 1979.
